About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’m all for charities fighting cancer but you’d expect them to usually donate proceeds and not…their own merchandise…to women in need. Like, not everybody is going to use makeup, brushes are a pretty personal cosmetic tool, and anyway it feels kind of self-promoting? Thank you for letting us know though.

It’s true not everyone is going to use makeup but the Look Good Feel Better program was developed around the beauty and makeup industry. It was created for cancer patients that might be losing their hair or have skin issues etc due to radiation. From my understanding, they have a range of makeup artists, wig experts, etc who take time out to make cancer patients feel and look beautiful. I guess It Cosmetics idea was to donate brushes to the cause which seems fitting since the charity is about makeup/beauty. Hope this explains it a bit better?!?! Donating proceeds is great, money is always needed for cancer research however, I don’t think it is necessarily a bad thing that they are donating brushes that will be used to makeup someone feel beautiful and confident when they aren’t feeling their best.

I think donating brushes is a great idea! Often times money donations are only used towards the charities administrative costs or at least a large portion of the money is. A makeup brush is going to be given to a woman. She will directly benefit from it. It’s an item that she can see, touch, and keep whereas she may never directly feel the benefit of any money given. I don’t have cancer but if I did, I imagine that I would love to receive something like this.
