About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Good. It’s about time the Hadids kept up with the Kardashians. At least they all work as models…they could just be famous for being famous. The eye contour palettes are derivative of UDB 1&2, as well as kvd in concept, but that works, and there is some color variation. Looks fairly solid as a DS collection, and god knows, like Ulta, DS is catching uuuup! Both in quality and in price. I’d like to see it, but unlikely to indulge. Btw, I held onto your observation about BMHT 18.0 for cooler fans, and used the Ulta birthday ten for it. Thanks. I like a lot of light shades, due to age and deep set eyes, and it is quite cool leaning. Could be a workhorse. Thanks.

This stuff is far too expensive for drugstore makeup, especially the hit and miss quality of Maybelline. It’s usually on sale though, so I’m sure there will be appeal to people. However, it is odd that they chose to push that dollar-store looking all in one compact over the much nicer looking eye shadow palette and other items first. All in one palettes are usually such a joke, especially when they have concealer colors. Also, mini brushes are cute but rarely functional. And $30 for a cardboard palette with cream colors that will dry out quicker because it doesn’t seal? Yeah, not so much.

I ordered one of the lipsticks and liners but it seems kind of pricey so I’ll wait for reviews on the palettes.

Oh my goodness that packaging is pretty. I strongly dislike Ulta, but I may see if it’s available in store, although then the question is will it be in store soon or later or never? So many things in so many stores are taking the “never” option, it feels.

Sorry, I’m just going to go ahead and say it: Maybelline jacked up the prices just because of her name. No thank you! Those eyeshadow palettes are normally $9.99. And $ 11.99 for a frickin’ eyeliner pencil from Maybelline? Please. So over these celebrity collaborations. It’s not like the quality is any different it’s just they have to pay her a percentage I’m sure or they paid her a lump sum to use her name. Regardless, it’s BS.

Oh man, I love the look of those lipsticks. I hope they’re not perfumed the way Maybelline’s have been the last few years. They have such beautiful colors, but that dryer-sheet smell makes my throat and nose burn.
