About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Ulta is way killing it. Morphe, now? I’m hearing the wingbeats of Icarus, though. Hope they don’t overextend and collapse. Is Ulta a public company, does anyone know?

    • Isabella Muse

public, there stock hasn’t actually dramatically changed since the name change though but actually went down a bit.

  • Pdo

Wow Morphe at Ulta, that’s pretty awesome too bad I already have the 2 palettes Ulta is currently offering on their site. I like the Jaclyn Palette I’ve been using it almost daily since I got it.

Only on the Muse’s website could I find a reference to Icarus! Best beauty blog and blogger with some of the best readers. Thank you, kjh!

P.S. I’m over Morphe but I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade.

    • Isabella Muse

lol because I have the best readers 😀 Did you get this one????? Everyone keeps saying the formula is outstanding compared the regular line!

I have it. And a backup. And it’s ridiculously good quality, especially for the price. And I have Natasha Denona palettes, so I know outstanding quality. Granted, I am a huge Jaclyn Hill fan, so full disclosure there. But the palette is one million percent worth a purchase and I hope it becomes (is?) permanent. In fact, it prompted me to order the new Morphe 35O 2 palette yesterday bc the reviews are that the quality has greatly improved and are ismilar to the Jaclyn Hill palette, that the JH palette has changed the Morphe game ….

I’ve heard all this and more about it 😀 I hope I like it!!!!!!!!! Thanks Melissa 😀

Me too!! Please share your thoughts with us! I always love to hear your reviews – I read everything you review, even if the product isn’t for me 😉 Thanks for all you do :).

I sure will! ;-D <3! Thank you so so much! That means the world to me and is very flattering to hear!

I had gotten caught up in the Morphe hype years ago, given my weakness for eye shadow palettes. At best, I found them OK but at worst, which was more often the case, I did not like the texture and they irritated my skin, even over primer. I should have known it was going to be a problem when I opened the palette and it reeked of a chemical, plastic smell. I’ve gotten rid of all of them and I’m not even tempted to try the new JH (I had the first one) or the Nature Glow sequel (had the first one of that, too).

Sounds like Coastal Scents! Fairly ok quality but smells bad sometimes :-/ And the formula can be hit and miss! I still need to try that JH palette 😀 It gets so many good reviews!

  • Christina D.

Coastal Scents is a reasonable facsimile, and a good reference for the level of quality of Morphe’s palettes, in my experience. I hear that the formula is improved, but I am wary of anything hyped-up by a YouTube “influencer”. Nothing personal but having been burned a few times, I’m wary of collaborations.

    • Isabella Muse

I’m happy with CS for the price point BUT they can be hit and miss. Really depends! I’ve always wondered if Morphe and CS had the same manufacturer since they look so much alike! You aren’t alone, I don’t really trust many youtubers either. Some are quite honest but a lot aren’t sadly 🙁 I’m naturally wary of collaborations as well because most are rushed and quality suffers due to this 🙁

I love all of Morphe, just discovered them a few months back, youtube actually. I am a fan of their brushes as well, they do what they say they do. Jaclyn Hill does a great video of her favs and I must admit, I am hooked! I have a million and one brushes, from Mac to Sigma and all in between and Morphes are now my favs. I can’t understand how this company makes money because the prices are so right. I have 4 of their other palettes, the newest 3502 which is so good, quality of the J Hill palette. I am so happy I have a new brand to love, I was getting pretty bored with all of the companies of late. Morphe has just made me go wow. I really like it as much if not more than Huda palettes, so happy!
