Of course, I had to purchase the new OGX Kandee Johnson Frosted Sugar Cookie Shampoo and Conditioner because SUGAR COOKIE! I mean really, who doesn’t want Sugar Cookie scented hair. You might not want to smell like sugar cookies but me? I totally want to smell like them.

Bring it!

OGX Kandee Johnson Frosted Sugar Cookie Shampoo and Conditioner is one of three limited edition scents that youTuber, Kandee Johnson, collaborated and helped to create for OGX. Great idea but limited edition? Damn! Do you need to stock up!?!??!

Not really.

OGX promises this will bring back the Holiday memory of baking and decorating cookies with whipped vanilla and freshly-baked warm sugar cookie notes. Oh my god yes. I think I had a gourgasm. Get it? Gourmand, orgasm…. Yeah, I know that was corny.

Ok, so good news for Sulfate haters. These is a sulfate-free formula. Hoorrayyyy! Not so much for me. I realize Sulfate can be bad for skin, hair, and the environment but I am guilty of liking it. Why? Because I’m an idiot and I like lather. This shampoo produces very little lather and I feel like my hair is somehow not clean without lather. Dumb I know. But I just enjoy lather in my hand soap, my shampoo, etc…….

So, just keep in mind that you won’t get a ton of rich lather from this formula but don’t worry, no matter what you believe, it is still cleansing your hair. I found the formula on both shampoo and conditioner very light, easy to rinse out, and didn’t cause buildup that I’m seeing thus far.

Bad news?

It smells nothing like sugar cookies. If it did I’d own a case by now. Don’t get me wrong! It actually smells very pretty but don’t expect sugar cookies. It has a fruity sweet blend that’s candy-ish and maybe, maybe a little spicy. But there’s no cookie or vanilla element that my nose picks up. Just a fruity scent that doesn’t linger quite long in my hair.

Shrug.

Do you need it?

Sure, why not. Try it out! Just don’t go wild and get several bottles as backups as it’s nothing to unique or special.

OGX Kandee Johnson Frosted Sugar Cookie Shampoo and Conditioner is available now at ulta.com.

Own it?

glad you reviewed this, because it was SO TEMPTING!! Count me in the sulfate fan club… my ends are so, so dry, but my scalp gets oily & built up. Without sulfates, my hair just turns into a rat’s nest!! ALSO. Totally off topic, but have you seen the Twitter tease for the new Urban Decay lip palettes???? DYING

    • Isabella Muse

Can I say I am so relieved when people tell me, “I like sulfates!” haha! I really feel like my hair has an odd texture when I use a sulfate-free shampoo! OMG DURAN DURAN!!!!! DUDE DUDE DUDE! lol! I’m not a huge huge lip palette type of girl but Duran Duran, yes, please, now ;-D Hahaha!

      • Jules

Right? I HATE lip palettes!!! But I don’t even care what’s inside there!!!! Nick Rhodes was my first true love, so it will be mine!

    • Isabella Muse

I am too! It smells nice, but more fruity sweet and candy than cookies and vanilla!

    • Oli

It’s smells good in my opinion, I’m on my second bottle. Does not have a vanilla sugar cookie smell but maybe a frosted yummy smell

If you love vanilla sugar cookie type scents, try Maui Moisture vanilla bean. It smells awesome and works great

I ordered the cider ones, they’ll be here tomorrow, so we’ll see how it goes.

I might be wrong, bec on Cosdna, SLES is only mildly better than SLS. Paula’s ingredients dictionary has SLES as ok; possibly, but not necessarily, derived from coconut. But, f’sure, the one to avoid is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Sodium Laureth Sulfate: the jury’s still out. I’m ok with it in shampoo/bath products. Pretty good emulsifier.

Once again you saved me from diving into my local store and buying twenty of these! They sounded so good! Not that I have anything against fruity smells, but I was hoping for a true sugar cookie vibe. Your reviews are fabulous and so helpful!

this is so me Laura! I was about to buy 4 bottles online and someone said, “I saw them at Walgreens”. So, I was like ok my walgreens doesn’t have them but will likely get them at some point so I’ll order a single pair online and if I love and I can always go to walgreens when they arrive. Thankfully I was saved from buying too many. It’s really not something I need a dozen backups of ;-D Likewise! I like the scent, it’s nice but it isn’t sugar cookie I’m smelling! Aw thank YOU! <3!

The Bamboo Fiber conditioner from this company is *amazing* at detangling curly hair (even though it is marketed as a volumizing formula)! I will be so sad if it is ever discontinued.

Le sigh…depressed. Why can’t we find a sudsy shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner that smell like desserts (strong AND lingering), as well as having cute labels for decent prices for those that like to stockpile….is that too much to ask? Apparently it is…Philosophy, yes on the “shampoo” part, but not strong or lingering or moisturizing. No matching conditioners. Etsy sellers, sometimes, but often the labels seem too crafty or homemade to me, and I like packaging, especially waterproof. Mass brands like this unfortunately have proven to miss the mark on fragrance, and I continue to be sad. This has honestly been one of my biggest product complaints over the last decade++… Business idea anyone??

In a constant quest for the best, I have found a few in the vanilla-ish category (not sure if these are there exact names, but I am too lazy to get up and get the info): Tigi Color Goddess oil infused conditioner /in a pumpkin, cognac colored bottle smells like a decent vanilla & Tigi Catwalk oatmeal and honey shampoo & cond. (in sheer turquoise blue bottles) smell on the vanilla gourmand side, too. But I need MORE! Rant over, thanks for listening! Xoxo…julie

    • Isabella Muse

ha yes please an all accounts Julie! I swear we’d be millionaires if we could get this off the ground because there is def a market for it! ;-D I am ALWAYS listening when it comes to good gourmand hair care 😀

Best cleansing conditioner is Renpure’s Solutions Vanilla mint. It smells like a cookie. You can get it Walgreen or Fred Meyer.
