Physicians Formula The Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick ($6.99) is a new liquid lipstick that’s launching at drugstores for Spring 2018 in eight shade selections. Wait, what? A liquid lipstick from Physicians Formula in eight shades!? yup! That’s right! Physicians Formula isn’t exactly known for launching a larger range of shades. Their product launches typically include two perhaps three colors of any one product. The fact they are launching eight shades of anything is a pretty major deal.

I think they actually might be launching a more permanent line of products for Spring 2018 since they commonly do a good deal of seasonal releases many of which get discontinued and replaced with something similiar but in new packaging. For Spring 2018, The Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick might just be a hint that they might be going for a more core color collection. Need further proof? They are also launch a new Healthy Foundation in eight shades as well. Now that’s really unusual right?

I purchased Physicians Formula The Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick at Bed, Bath, and Beyond last week in the shade Nut-ritous and I have some regrets I didn’t get a few more colors as it is a surprisingly lovely formula for a long-wearing liquid lipstick.

Physicians Formula packages these up in a rather elegant square square barrel with silver mirrored accents and 0.24 oz of product. There’s a slanted large doe foot applicator for application that saturates well with color and allows for smooth, even application on lips.

I like the formula a lot more than I expected to. It’s a light, whipped texture with a smooth, even glide on lips and a velvety finish that isn’t tight or dry looking. I have super dry lips at the moment and the color was very smooth without falling into my natural lip lines and remaining comfortable through the wear without being dry. This isn’t a traditional long-wearing lipstick formula so, if you wish to remove it and reapply it that’s easy enough to do throughout the day. Just wipe off and reapply. I didn’t experience migration with it nor did it feather and it wore for a solid six hours without cracking or flaking but if I wanted to remove it, it was easy enough to do so. I detected a subtle vanilla flavor and fragrance.

All in all, Physicians Formula The Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick was quite delightful. I enjoyed the fact it isn’t one of those long-wearing lipsticks that you can’t remove unless you have an oil-based remover hanging out in your bag yet it still wore long and strong. It was comfortable on my dry lips as well without tightening or being an unflattering dry matte finish. The color was pigmented and opaque as well on a single swipe. For $6.99, I’d totally haul more of these.

Super on you. Sounds nice. BB & B is so dangerous, and now they’re upping their beauty. I seldom remember to check that stuff out. Too busy checking out the knives, but Sur La Table has far better ones. And the all clad, and the gadgets, and bedding. You had to remind me, and now i’m going to have to check out bath and beauty. Thanks.

The fact that they have apparently fixed their out of line pricing and that this isn’t a true matte – I’d be happy to try them.

New PF releases are never easy to find for some reason.

Sounds good, but what I really want to know is, do you happen to know what pretty shadow is gracing your lids in this picture? And blush? You look great!

  • Brandy

I can’t wait to snag one of these! I always find Physians Formula to be a reliable brand with wearable colors.

I finally got around to buying Dose of Rose and Berry Healthy and I absolutely love them! They don’t fall into my natural lip lines, they didn’t suck all the moisture from my lips, the colors are gorgeous, and they didn’t end up smeared all over my face like some “long wearing” lip products.

This is one of the best liquid lipsticks I’ve EVER tried–it’s as good as (or better than) some more expensive high end brands I’ve tried! It’s a MUST try, especially at this price point. I managed to get Nut-ricious from my local CVS. By the way, they’ve actually added more colors to this, and I think it’s up to 13 shades now (yay, the more the merrier!) I can’t wait until it’s more widely available!

I just spotted them at my bear Rite Aid they gad few of these but all of the lipsticks and they do look pretty the berry and red are beautiful! I’ll wait for asale to try it.

These are now available for purchase on the Physicians Formula website. I ordered one of the shades that wasn’t available at my CVS. It’s a good option for people who don’t have access to them at a local drug store (and they have a range of shipping options/costs as well)

Very helpful review of this product. Thank you! I almost bought today at CVS, but I decided I would look for some reviews online first. None of the colors totally wow me in the packaging. I will investigate their website and see what the full spectrum is. Where is the product made? That’s always a good piece of info to include in reviews. Many of us refuse to buy make-up Made in China for health reasons.

thanks Barb! I’m glad it helped! I’m not sure, sorry for being remiss typically I include whether eyeshadow is made in china but I don’t always address it in lipgstick or lipgloss reviews. Most PF products I know of area made in the US with “foreign” parts. I assume that this is the case with this lipstick as well! Sadly, I can’t confirm though as I tossed the box out. Sorry!
