Almay Best Blend Forever Makeup Review & Swatches

Almay Best Blend Forever Makeup ($16.99) is a new foundation and moisturizer hybrid with an SPF 40 that’s launching at drugstores now for Spring 2018. This is probably one of my favorite launches of 2018 although to be fair there haven’t been that many launches yet for 2018 but regardless I’m really enjoying it. I’ve always been a rather big fan of tinted moisturizers since I’m blessed with fairly good skin that doesn’t require heavier coverage but still needs it to ease dullness, even out skin tone, and just to brighten up my tired complexion due to dryness. Almay’s Best Blend Forever Foundation apparently provides eight hours of moisture with a lightweight formula that protects skin as it hydrates.

Here’s my review, swatches, and thoughts.

Almay did a good job with this one! It’s a bit expensive at nearly $20 but the formula worked out well for me so I’m not complaining too much. The foundation comes in a squeeze tube with an attached sponge applicator that can be removed for easy cleaning should you desire. It 1 oz in size and depending where you purchase it you’ll pay $12 to $17 for it. Yeah well, I guess we have to start coming to terms with the fact that drugstore makeup is not really all that budget friendly anymore. But really, if the quality is there I don’t mind paying for it and in this case the performance and formula are worth the higher cost.

This is like a magic eraser! You squeeze the tube and foundation flows into the sponge which makes for easy, no finger or brush application. Just dab it gently on and blend it into your skin using the sponge! Super easy, mess-free application. If you don’t love the sponge, no problem! Snap it off, squeeze the foundation out of the precision tip, and use a brush or fingers to apply. I liked the sponge personally as it created a nice, smooth finish on my skin.

The foundation has a light, slightly creamy fluid consistency that applies easily on my drier skin without clinging to drier areas. It’s very, very lightly hydrating and not dewy or shiny in finish. I wouldn’t say it provided me with eight hours of hydration but it did leave my skin pleasantly soft and the coverage is so lightweight that my skin was breathing easy throughout the wear. It didn’t oxidize and the wear time was around six hours for me but I can see it disappearing faster on oily skin so setting is essential for stronger wear.

This is exactly my type of coverage. It’s sheer yet pigmented enough to even out my skin tone, brighten my skin, and easy dullness. I wouldn’t say it’s a traditional tinted moisturizer but as close to one as possible so don’t expect to much coverage. If you already have good skin it perfects it and creates a very nice, natural look.

If you need medium or full-coverage this isn’t the product for you but if you already have fairly good skin with some minor redness, darkness, or dullness you’ll get on well with this. It’s lightweight, breathable, and looks very natural while giving your complexion a brighter look.

I liked this a lot and I’m Muse Approving.

Look for it at drugstores or get it now at amazon.com and target.com, walmart.com and ulta.com.

I just ordered this in Porcelain-finger crossed it’s a good match!-from Amazon! I’ve been looking into a good TM/sheer foundation, with a high enough SPF, for Summer, and this may be the one.

Update me when it arrives I’d be curious to see what you think! I liked it. Quite a nice, natural look and breathable!

I’m intrigued. What’s your fave tinted moisturizer? The one I’ve liked best so far is the Bare Minerals one, the gel cream one. I kind of want something like that, but cheaper, if possible.

    • Isabella Muse

Laura Mercier’s formula is one of my favs, I also used to love the PF healthy wear one that was discontinued. Bare Minerals is great but that has considerably more coverage compared to this ;-D Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Aging Perfector is also lovely! And Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector!

I like a bit more coverage. My skin is generally okay, but I do have some sun spots and old acne scars. I’ll have to go check those others out. I do like the Bare Minerals in some ways because it has physical sunscreen blockers. I’m not a fan of the chemical ones.

Jouer. Almost always use the paula’s long name, but that has virtually no tint, just a wee blur. Cover fx separates eventually, especially over the Paula. Can’t use the majority, due to chem sunscreens, but those are all T/Z. Pur is ok, but not as good a shade match.

This sounds promising. I haven’t seen it in store yet but I’ll be on the lookout.

Would you recommend using this underneath another foundation or would it be to heavy?

    • Isabella Muse

You can, it’s not heavy at all and would wear fine under another foundation but probably would defeat the purpose of the natural coverage!

I am a 60 year old model but I was a sun worshiper as a teen and my skin needs great but not heavy coverage – I may try this!

  • Silvia

This sounds great Muse! Just my kind of coverage I also have pretty good decent clear skin so I mostly like to even out skin tone overall. I think I saw them at Target yes! And the sponge tip caught my attention. I’ve tried Almay eyeshadows and they leave only a sheen with minimum color even on me (I’m pale) haven’t tried Almay since the dinosaurs turned teenagers! Lol! Sounds lighter and more natural than P.F.

Very disappointed to see chemical sunscreen, as with the new PF one. Oh well, not for me!
