Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating 100% Hydrogel Mask ($2.99) is a new Hyaluronic Acid gel sheet mask that promises to provide intense moisture to skin. Sheet masks are an important role in my skincare routine. I’ve been using them several years and I’m massive fan of Korean Sheet Masks in particular. It’s a common trend in Asia that has slowly starting become popular in the US but sadly, many of the sheet masks that have come out here haven’t been as great as the ones here.

Neutrogena is selling these in two formula each of which contains a one time use mask for around $2.99 to $4 depending where you purchase them. This is gel mask that contains two pieces. One piece should be applied to the upper portion of your face (eyes) and the second should be applied to your lower face (chin, lips, etc…). I’ve run across sheet masks like this before but I don’t particular likely them as I tend to pat my face mask as I wear it to allow the product to absorb into my skin. Doing so with a sheet mask that is in two parts is difficult because it ends up slipping off. Which by the way it does quite often since this is a gel-like texture and not a traditional cotton fiber mask which means as it applies easy enough but it slips off through the wear if you aren’t laying down and stationary. It’s just messy and a pain to use.

Not only is it awkward to use and wear but it’s formulated with more fragrance than Hyaluronic Acid. The ingredient are terribly disappointing and not exactly super hydrating. After using it I didn’t feel super hydrated or softened after using it. There are far better sheet masks available with a host of excellent ingredients that will hydrate your skin.

I was disappointed with this. I really wish that the US market will catch up with the Korean ones when it comes to creating affordable, beneficial sheet masks.

Thanks for this review. I’m not a big sheet mask fan but would have considered this one since it’s from Neutrogena. Now I know to save my money.

Muse! I stocked up on sheet masks before my cruise to Australia/New Zealand, and I literally used a sheet mask 2x/day and on the planes, and I swear, it totally saved my skin from getting beat-up. I heart good sheet masks.

…you’re right though; I find US ones unnecessarily expensive and unsatisfying comparatively to Korean ones.

amen glad someone agrees. Truly they are skin savers! People laugh when I use them 4 to 5 times a week! They do great things for my skin so why not!? 😀

I actually need to restock! My skin freaked from going to winter to summer to winter again. Not to mention the 26+ hour plane ride to and back and that the cruise itself was also drying due to going inside and outside all the time!! Sheet masks saved the day!

believe me I’ve tonally been there when it comes to dry, tight freak out mode 😀 I can imagine your skin is feeling jetlagged 😀 Did you have fun!? That’s the most important thing 😀

I did! But am glad to be home. 🙂 Picked up the Tarte Fingerpaints in my last haul! Eager to try them on my hooded lids!

I’m like that. I love going away but when I get back I breath a sign of relief to get back to my routine 😀 Let me know how it goes!

You are so right about the AB superiority, and I learned it here, and a couple of AB dedicated sites. I’ve been having weirdo reactivity to so much lately, and the Lululun white was sooo soothing this AM. Taiwan and Japan rule, too, depending on your individual needs. Forget this Neutrogena pale imitation!

I had high hope in this, since Neutrogena makes very good paper facial masks in Asia, it’s one of the best selling masks in Taiwan for probably a decade already. Thanks for the review 🙂

Really!? I always though My Beauty Diary was the biggest seller in Taiwan! When I visited I ended up with a suitcase filled with Sexy Look Hello Kitty masks! I was in heaven lol!

      • Marcia

I like My Beauty Diary as well 🙂 It’s so cool that you’ve visited my home country lol ~ XXOOXX

oh you’re from Taiwan!? Awesome! T-Drama fan girl here 😀 I went to Taipei and had a blast! Great experience ;-D Such a beautiful country and lovely people! 😀 xoxox!

One of my favorite masks of all time was hydrogel (When-snow) but so many other brands hydro gel masks are messy and not great for me. I hated dr Jart’s and there was one at wal-mart i tried that also broke on me. I’ll skip this 🙁

Reminds me of the Hydro Gel mask I used a few hours ago, no essence left over and my face still feels kinda tight in areas!
