Sephora Lipstories Lipstick Review & Swatches
Sephora #Lipstories Lipstick is a new $8 lipstick available in a wide variety of shades and three different finishes of matte, metallic, satin, and cream. If you read my prior post on these Sephora aims for you to create your own story across social media using these lipsticks with the hashtag #lipstories. They feel like fragrance lipstick shades can evoke a certain memory or even create a new one and each of these lipsticks is inspired by a story, adventure, or experience in your life that has happened or is awaiting for you to create.
It’s a cute idea and a completely affordable one as well as they are a mere eight dollars each which means you can happily pick up a few shades without breaking the bank. Each lipstick has a unique label inspired by the shade and a possible adventure in life you may take. I thought the labels were adorable. For my first purchase, I choose the shade Matinée which is a pretty brown undertoned raspberry. I choose the shade not based on color but just my love of cinema. Corny I know but it was the first shade that caught my attention as I’m a major fan of foreign and indie films. Like books, film can take you completely away from all the insanity of life and put you in a happy, calm spot for two to three hours so that the stress of your day just seeps away. I am very guilty of using a good movie to shake off a long, hard day at work. If you haven’t seen it already my latest love is The Shape of Water. I can’t believe I’m saying this considering his body of work but this is one of del Toro’s best films. I loved it! Go and see it over the long Holiday weekend if you haven’t already!
But how about this Sephora Lipstories Lipstick…
Sephora Lipstories Lipstick arrives to you in a lightweight cardboard wrapped barrel with a plastic tube. It’s travel friendly, very lightweight, yet cute. It contains 0.14 oz of product and will set you back eight dollars. I paid $10 for a Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick which contained 0.23 oz of product but I will happily throw my money at Sephora which contained less product and had a far superior formula in comparison. So yes, 0.14 oz isn’t huge and you might be comparing the size to certain drugstore lipsticks but believe me eight dollars is well worth the price of admission here since the formula is excellent.
Sephora says these are claim in satin, metallic, and matte finishes however, I ordered one of the “satins” and in reality it’s more of a cream with a shine finish. It has a lightweight, balmy texture that had an easy, smooth, slightly slick glide across my lips. The color was opaque on a single application and had no fragrance or flavor. The wear time was five hours with the shine lasting for about two hours before disappearing but color remaining.
I’ve said it in past reviews and I’ll say it again here Sephora knows how to create great lipsticks and there’s no exception with this one. I have hopes the metallics and mattes prove just as delightful as the satin (or cream) did for me.
I can’t wait to try more.
I’m Muse Approving this particular finish! I’ll have to try the other finishes to decide if the entire line needs to be Muse Approved but so far, loves it.
