Covergirl Spring 2018 has arrived and there are new Melting Pout Metallics on the way with this launch as well as new Katy Perry Collection featuring thee most adorable lipglosses ever! I don’t have a lot of info about Katy’s Collection yet but as more info becomes available I’ll be sure to share it.

This collection as some new core base pieces like a new Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer which promises to keep eyeshadow holding long and strong as well as a new Look Lock Up All Day Setting Mist. Both have very basic black and white packaging that looks like something E.L.F. would release versus Covergirl. I’ve noticed that more and more drugstore brands are focusing on their core base makeup collection and setting sprays seem to hold a prominent place in those collections.

Another item that caught my eye was the new Vitalist Lip Oil which means lip oils might be back for yet another trending round at the drugstore. Last year, there were numerous drugstore brands that brought out lip oils such as NYX Slip Tease Full Color Lip Oil, Ulta Juice Infused Lip Oil, and Burts Bees Tinted Lip Oil.

And of course, I’m quite curious about Melting Pout Metallics. I liked but didn’t love the original Covergirl Melting Pout Liquid Lipstick, I’m more of a Maybelline Color Jolt girl, but I’m highly curious about the metallic version! I’m unsure if they plan on launching these at drugstores yet as they released these several weeks ago online only and claim they are available for a very limited time but I sure hope to see them in drugstores as well!

I did notice a lot of these items they are launching are beating a dead horse as many of the items are trying to rehash older trends such as the TruBlend Pre-Touching Color Correcting Palette. I mean really, the color correcting trend has been over for a while now right?

Anyway, these are only a few of the items that are launching! There’s plenty more that Covergirl Spring 2018 has in store for us. Let’s take a look!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Don’t worry, I have doubts they’ll do the entire line like this! If they do it would be a big mistake!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who dislikes the packaging. It looks so generic. Almost like a no-name brand.

      • Heavenly Herrera

The whole line is going to be in this packaging now :/ when I ordered my replenishment stock last week, all of the existing products that I ordered came in this updated packaging

    • Jane

I saw a few limited pieces in store and it looks really nice, very chic (and reminds me of Janelle Monae!). It’s much better than their old packaging.

      • Isabella Muse

It’s a little too basic for me but maybe seeing it will change my mind ;D

        • Jane

Looking at it on here it is kind of blah, but in person I got all grabby hands.

      • Eraser

I was impressed with it too – it’s more sophisticated in a minimalist way.

The lip oils and eye primer are all that interest me right now. Am I going through makeup burnout??? Most likely not.

I’ve seen the melting pout Metallics at my local cvs in Texas so they’re not just online!

    • Isabella Muse

naaa I doubt it. Likely for these core pieces only but I doubt they’ll start packaging it all like this but I’ve been known to be wrong. If they do change it to this I think it could be really uneventful and uninteresting to consumers. I know they have a really great line of lipglosses coming from Katy Perry that have the cutest cat toppers! Very Korean! 😀

      • Heavenly Herrera

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I’m a cosmetics department manager and all of the covergirl replenishment that I ordered last week came in the new white and black packaging (old products).

Also, both the Katy Perry and the Melting Pout Metallics are in stores now 🙂

        • Isabella Muse

jeez that sucks because it’s quite basic! :-/ Thanks!!!!!!!! no luck finding either but hope to soon!

  • Kish

I saw some of this stuff at Rite Aid the other day and I walked right by it, thinking it was Neutrogena stuff. I’d consider the lip oils if they have some color to them and not just shine, however.

  • Ashlynn

I do not like this new look… at all. It is so “asian” wanna-be looking and just completely different from what we have always known them to be. It is a really strange turn for them.

    • Isabella Muse

Asian wanna be? Gosh, I didn’t think it looked k or j-beauty at all! It looks like ELF Cosmetics a bit but can’t say it looks like any Korean or Japanese brands I know of!

  • Michelley

….. I actually really dig the hardcore minimalist styling. It reminds me of the houses and rooms I see and love in Dwell, my favorite home design mag. Don’t get me wrong, I love love love wild and fun packaging but I think bc in real life I’m a hoarder and my house is mad cluttered, lately I’ve become obsessed with super minimal design (always loved mid century mod architecture, now love Scandinavian design/decor as well). It gives me a calm spot to focus on in the midst of all my mental and quite physical clutter.
    Anyway, just me 🙂
    Carry on!
