Buxom Va-Va-Plump Shiny Liquid Lipstick Review & Swatches

Buxom Va-Va-Plump Shiny Liquid Lipstick ($20) is a new plumping liquid lipstick that has a glossy, shiny finish. Yes! I’m so happy that I don’t have to contend with yet another matte liquid lipstick. Let’s hope more brands catch on and start releasing shiny lip products this Summer.

Buxom launched Va-Va-Plump Shiny Liquid Lipstick in a whooping 20 shade selections all of which promise a pigmented and glossy finish that has a formula which contains peptide and hyaluronic acid. I typically like plumping formulas but I’m under no disillusion that most times the plump and volume promises is due to irritating ingredients like cinnamon. Aside from a slightly cooling effect I had no such issues with this formula. I might be a sadist because I honestly don’t mind the pain from products like DuWop Lip Venom but I realize they can prove very irritating to some people. Those sensitive types should feel find with this formula as there is no pain in the least.

For me the promise of plumper, smoother lips wasn’t what grabbed my attention. I was all about the shine factor. I loved the idea of a pigmented liquid lipstick that was shiny for once and not matte. And that is in fact where this formula excels.

These have a fairly thin formula that glides onto my drier lips as easily as any gloss would. The formula settles smoothly and easily onto my lips without falling into my natural lips lines or clinging to drier areas. It has a beautifully smooth look with a very comfortable feel. I think the thing I liked most about the texture was the fact it was so incredibly lightweight and had absolutely none of the stickiness or tacky feel of a lipgloss yet still had the high shine and glossy finish of one. A single swipe got me full opaque color that lasted for a solid five hours. It isn’t a long-wearing formula in the sense a matte liquid lipstick is though which means it wipes off easily and may transfer onto your cup but I experienced no migration from it nor feathering around my upper or lower lip.

I’m not sure I’d say my lips looked fuller after using this formula but they did look very smooth and felt nicely hydrated during the wear.

All in all a great pick up for those who desire a full color liquid lipstick minus the dry, matte finish! I loved this formulated with the finish of a lipgloss but provided all the color of a liquid lipstick.
