E.L.F. Hydrating Booster Drops ($10) is a new moisturizing booster that instantly hydrates and plumps skin while helping it to retain moisture. This is one of E.L.F. Cosmetics most interesting skincare launches to date from E.L.F. as it contains some very good ingredients that will most definitely be beneficial to your skin and no, they aren’t ones that appear lower on the list either.

Let’s get right into analyzing some of the good stuff in here!

First off, this contains tremella fuciformis sporocarp extract which I actually had to research as I never heard of it before but apparently it is an excellent source of moisture and also aids in binding moisture to the skin which means once you apply this product it’ll help your skin to retain moisture and not give you a one off moisturizing effect that fades within seconds of application. It also contains glycerin which is an excellent source of moisture as well. There’s also two forms of hyaluronic acid here one of which is Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate which keeps moisture sealed into skin for longer periods of time.

There’s a ton of other great stuff in here but those are some of the top ingredients. E.L.F. also went so far as to leave out fragrance which makes this an even more perfect product.

I have to admit I’m slightly surprised. E.L.F. is a fairly budget friendly brand and they have made some mistakes in the past like, hello that Micellar Water was intense (although I have heard it has been reformulated)! I didn’t expect them to loaded this booster up with so many crazy good hydrating ingredients but indeed that’s exactly what they did and I think it hopefully holds promise for their future skincare releases.

Now one thing to take into consideration with this product is it is smaller at 0.51 oz but it is a booster which means you’ll be using it in conjunction with other products. It’s fairly concentrated so mixing it with your moisturizer or even your foundation is recommended but there’s nothing wrong with using it directly on your face if you want. For all intents and purposes I’d consider E.L.F. Hydrating Booster Drops an ampoule which is basically a supercharged serum of sorts. Typically within the K-Beauty Skincare world ampoule are reserved for times your skin needs a pick me up or is having some sort of severe crisis like extra dry skin or a breakout. The ampoule would be used daily until your skin improves. I’ve taken to using E.L.F.’s formula prior to applying my moisturizer everyday for extra hydration and also, to help my skin to retain moisture. But you can reserve it for times of dehydration or super dry days should you like.

If you’ve used ampoules in the past you’ve likely very familiar with this texture. It almost has a jelly-like consistency that absorbs instantly into skin. I think the moisture factor is immediately noticeable as instantly my skin feels softer and smoother. It also allows my moisturizer to absorb more easily into my skin. Long term I’d say that my face feels and looks a lot less drier after using this.

All in all, it’s quite supercharged with a slew of wonderful ingredients that will help hydrate your skin but most importantly keep that moisture locked in.

E.L.F. Hydrating Booster Drops is very much worth picking up.

I think Tremella is a big Andrew Weil ingredient. It’s somebody’s darling. Guess if anyone has probs with this, it’s likely butylene glycol so high up. It doesn’t bother me, but iirc it gets a 3 for irritation on Cosdna. This looks good to me. Many prefer phenoxyethanol to parabens, for the preservative. I think Holy Snails has some good info on preservatives, and gives a choice in their products. Nice work, ELF.

is it? I haven’t used any of his line in years! I don’t get why though because I never had a prob with it personally. It seems the least likely item to cause irritation.

All that stuff is so idiosyncratic, related to immune fxn, allergy, etc. I never know how to answer the? about, if it bothers you digestively, will your skin have a problem with it too? I’m leery of coconut, bec it closes my throat. But coconut derivatives in bath products seem fine. Tremella could give issues to people who have probs with allergies to fungi, molds, etc. It’s a wonder anyone ever figures any of it out on a personal level. So many consumer reviews destroy a product, when personal reactivities are the culprit. Takes so much process of elimination, and research to get any handle at all.

that’s a good question! it really does take research and trail and error to see what will actually work!

I have recently started using ELF makeup products and love the money I’m saving but I wonder why they still include Propylene Glycol in certain things. I’m hoping that changes soon.

e.l.f. has really been stepping up their game in the past year! I absolutely love their vitamin C face oil and their face mist!
