Lanolin & Egg White Cleansing Bar Face + All-Over Review

Lanolin & Egg White Cleansing Bar Face + All-Over ($8) is a new all over facial soap that contains egg whites, lanolin, and a goats milk blend that can be used on your face or your body. Despite what your mom might have told you, you can in fact use soap on your face. April Skin Magic Stone Black is one of my favorite facial soaps for use in my AM cleanse and it works a treat on my skin.

I was of course, quite curious to try out Lanolin’s version since I’m a fan of Lanolin’s products in general since I find them quite moisturizing. So, of course, I picked this up without thinking about it at all!

If you want to experience Lano anything at the moment it is on sale at Ulta.com for buy 1, get 1 50% off that includes this soap.

This bar is 3.88 oz in size and $8 but if you take advantage of the sale it’ll be $4. it’s a triple-milled soap which means it does melt down fairly fast with use. You’ll want to make sure you have a soap dish to allow it to dry out fully so you aren’t wasting it by leaving it in some wet spot on the sink or in your shower.

This soap contains sunflower oil and rapeseed oil as well as goat milk, and of course lanolin as well as glycerin and egg white powder. It has a very light scent that reminds me of every single hotel soap I’ve smelled in Europe. It’s a pretty standard scent that you’ll recognize instantly. It’s not a strong scent in the least but some sensitive users might not love it.

There are so many great ingredients in here but I think the addition of sodium cocoate is where things get iffy for me since this can make your skin feel dry and also, I think it somehow causes the odd film that the soap leaves behind as well as causes issues with rinsing it off.

During the cleansing it works up a nice creamy lather and it feels quite hydrating as I work it into my skin. But during the rinse it felt like I can’t remove the soap at all. It almost feels like the lather is creating some sort of barrier around my skin. I’ve had this happen with a few different products that contain egg white but nothing as weird as this. Also, after I rinsed it off I still felt like I had something on my face. Thankfully, I didn’t experience any drying or tightening after but it wasn’t as hydrating as I had hoped for. It does cleanse well and didn’t sting my eyes but the lack of hydration did disappoint me.

Lanolin & Egg White Cleansing Bar Face + All-Over might capture your eye and attention if you’re curious about facial soaps but it’s not by any means a must have as there are quite a good deal of beauty bars with better formulas out there. I was somewhat surprised considering my love for the brand and the great moisture their other products provide.

Oh well! The good new is it melts so fast I can use it up mighty fast and move back to my other cleansing soap.
