Too Faced Natural Face Palette Review & Swatches
Too Faced Natural Face Palette ($44) is a new blush, highlighter, and bronzer palette that launched with the It Just Comes Naturally Spring 2018 Collection and will be a permanent part of the brand’s collection.
I can’t even begin to express how happy I was about this launch. Yes, some people are terribly tired of nudes and this collection does focus on a nude, natural selection of shades. However, I’m quite done with the “cutesy” themes from Too Faced. This collection is much more mature and elegant. Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE cute makeup! But Too Faced seems to have rubbed me wrong with their version of cute. So, I am quite happy to get back to a safe place with the brand.
One of the first things to rave about the entire It Just Comes Naturally Collection is the beautiful packaging. Too Faced Natural Face Palette and each of the new eyeshadow palettes comes housed in a weighty compact with a gorgeous mirror inside. The palette has a stunning face plate with a lace floral design, a heart clasp, and gold accents. If you display your makeup on your vanity or elsewhere this is a gorgeous piece of makeup to leave out for show. As soon as you open it you’ll smell a strong almond-y coconut scent. It smells gorgeous and the scent does linger a bit after application. I don’t mind the scent in the least but sensitive users might not love it.
The palette contains six shade all of which are 0.14 oz in size and each has their name printed on the inside of the palette. You get two Bronzing Veils, two blush shades, and 2 highlighters. The palette range is dominated by warmer shades with one blush shade leaning towards being cooler. It was actually a bit too warm for me and I struggled with some of the shades and getting them to look good on my complexion as after blended shades like Tropic Like It’s Hot and Pink Sand looked a bit muddy on me. Some shades do like Tropic Like It’s Hot and Pink Wink do require a very light hand as they are very pigmented.
The palette is such a big improvement compared to the releases that Too Faced has been churning out lately. The texture on these shades is very soft, velvety, and blended well and easily on my skin with excellent pigment and strong wear.
Apparently they contain hydrating coconut butter that gives the powders a creamy, comfortable wear but the highlighter shades did cling to my drier areas a bit however, all the other shades were very smooth and even.
I do wish the palette was a bit more wearable for me. The shades are lovely but not flattering on me. I found the bronzers a bit too muddy or dark, Pink Wink a bit too bright, etc..I’d probably do better with a few golden peaches combined with lighter golden bronzers. This is a personal problem though and no fault with the palette as I’m sure these shades will suit a skin ton other than my own. I think if you plan on using some of the shades to contour with they might not quite work however, there is a how-to-get the look guide with several looks and how to create them included with the palette that might be helpful!
All in all, the Too Faced Natural Face Palette was packaged beautifully, formulated very well, and shows a lot of promised compared to what the brand has been churning out recently. I think we can all agree the Too Faced’s formula has suffered a little the last few launches however, it looks like they are redeeming that with this collection.
