Tarte Maracuja Gold Oil is Being Filed Under Things I Don’t Need

Tarte Maracuja Gold Oil ($50) is a new limited edition version of the brand’s popular Maracuja facial oil with gold flakes. Yeah, gold flakes. Sigh. Do I really need this is the question of the moment?

I think not.

I actually have hopes this is like NYX Honey Dew Me Up where the shimmer is seen in the bottle but doesn’t translate onto your face. In that case, hells yes brings on Tarte Maracuja Gold Oil because it’s damn pretty.

NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer

But if this is a shimmery oil, well, that would be a big no thanks from me.

Call me a party pooper, a killjoy, or just an angry old lady but I just don’t feel like my facial oil needs to have gold flakes injected into it. Maybe a hint of shimmer but even that isn’t really something I need since I tend to wear face oil at night and I’m not really wanting it to perform the function of a highlighter when I bed down at night.

I think if it does interest you and it shows up as a hint of gold sheen it could be nice for a dewy golden glow but if it’s huge flakes of gold I think it might be overkill. And even as a hint of sheen I likely don’t need it since I don’t wear facial oil in the day. I just find it too rich for day use. I could be crazy but I don’t think I’m in the minority with the way I use facial oil. It’s just not something that really works for me as a daily skincare product. Especially when you’re wearing other products like SPF.

This idea has been done before though from brands like NYX and about a year or two ago Physicians Formula launched their Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Illuminating Argan Oil. Both of these offering a cheaper way to get that glow without dishing out Tarte’s $50 price tag. But really, even cheaper, you can just dump some MAC Glitter in some cheap facial oil and call it a day right?

But no judgement here, if the idea of a gold flake injected facial oil sounds great you can snag Tarte Maracuja Gold Oil now at tartecosmetics.com.

You would just as soon see the moon, but not have the moon see you back, AIR? Facial oil is night only for me, and infrequent. Those lips look like the height of comfort, and more like a skin condition than artful placement made to look haphazard. This has far too much artifice for me, for ‘regular’ m/u. For a costume look, maybe. Pretty sure anyone could do better for a tx oil.

Hey. Just wanted to clarify that tarte sent me these. I was anti Gold but tried them, The gold absolutely melts and leaves no visible shimmer in either product.

Omg! I totally agree! I even asked a tarte customer service if the gold oil had any different effects then the OG one. Its simply just for your vanity lol
