Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Color Icon Baked Blush Review & Swatches
Don’t Flutter Yourself, Dare to Soar, and Hummingbird Hype are three limited edition Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Color Icon Baked Blush shades that launched with the Wet n Wild Summer 2018 Collection recently online and at drugstores.
These are probably one of my favorite pieces of makeup at the moment and I’m so looking forward to the warm days of Summer ahead when these will look especially delicious.
Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Coloricon Baked Blush arrives in a simple square plastic palette with a clear lid that holds none of the decorative tropical designs that the Coloricon Lipgloss and Perfect Pout Lip Scrub have which also launched with this collection. I actually have no idea the size of these blushes as it doesn’t say on the back however, they do seem generously sized and will set you back $4.99 each and they are made in China. Each blush has an adorable hummingbird embossment on the powder which didn’t disappear or fade with the four or five times I’ve used these since purchase.
I simply can’t rave these enough and that’s saying something because they do have a highly metallic glow-y finish. In all honesty, I’d say the two lighter shades wear best for me over my blush to add a gorgeous pop of metallic sheen and glow plus they intensify my blush color. I couldn’t quite get Hummingbird Hype or Don’t Flutter Yourself to work as a blush as you do have to pile them on the best intensity and since they have such a high shine metallic finish you could be dangerously overdoing your blush. I find it best to wear a light shade of blush under them and that way you’d get color from the blush and a gorgeous glow from the Color Icon Baked Blush. I will say Dare to Soar is the exception to the rule as this is the most pigmented of the three and it can easily be worn as a blush since a little goes a long way to add color and a gorgeous glow to your skin. I’d go so far as to call them a blush and highlighter hybrid.
Below I used Don’t Flutter Yourself and Hummingbird Hype over a sheer light blush and wore Dare to Soar on its own as a blush and highlighter.
All three shades are truly unique colors and aren’t like anything I own in my collection. Don’t Flutter Yourself is this delightful apricot pink, Hummingbird Hype is a gorgeous light golden peach, and Dare to Soar is a stunning cranberry. All three have a strong metallic finish but they contain absolutely no chunky shimmer or glitter. The texture is a little firm but color was very easy to pick up without being powdery or chalky. The color applies very easily and didn’t adhere to drier areas on my cheeks but considering how intense the glow it may accentuate pores. I don’t have visible pores on my face so I’m just guessing this might happen, I don’t know it for a fact. I had no issues during the blending process however, using a lighter hand is highly recommended and using a fiber brush with lighter less dense bristles will help you to get a pretty luminous glow without overdoing things.
All in all, I am very, very pleased with the Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Color Icon Baked Blush Collection. I hope they do more of these in the future because I think the colors, formula, and finish of these is delightful.
I’m Muse Approving these!
