Tarte Sea the Change Vault & Love, Trust & Fairy Dust Vault

Makeup vaults are no longer reserved for the Holidays! Tarte has been releasing many of their seasonal collections lately as individual items or in massive vaults that contain the entire collection. They’ve been doing this for about three seasons now and apparently it’s a great success as most people seem to opt in for the vault purchase. Either you love these massive vaults or you’re mentally cringing where to store such a large piece of makeup.

I’m actually past the stage in my makeup life where I feel compelled to buy every single piece of a collection. I’ve been there, for many years, but nowadays I tend to buy items I think I’ll like and use.

But that doesn’t mean I’m not tempted by vaults like the Tarte Love, Trust & Fairy Dust Vault ($110 LE) which includes:

  • Love, Trust & Fairy Dust Eye & Cheek Palette
  • Fairy Brush Set
  • Fairy Blush
  • Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
  • Fairy Dust

I haven’t tried them yet but the Tarte H2O Lipgloss also comes in a complete vault which has all 14 full-size shades which purchased individually would set you back $266 but within the vault are $199 in the Tarte #Seathechange Vault. Do I need $200 worth of lipgloss?! Probably not but there’s little bit of a lemming in the back of my mind that really wants this! Don’t worry my logical side is winning out here and telling me NO!

    I caved and bought the Tarte Fairy vault, I’m a sucker for anything with stars on it. I’m starting back to school this fall to finish a degree so this is a motivational gift to myself

    No vaults for me as I’m too picky. Lol. But they sure are pretty! The one time I’ve been truly tempted was the UD liner vault. But the $ was just too much to consider.

      I think the exception to any rule I ever had about vaults was never extended to the UD one. That was something I felt was totally worth it ;-D

      I was going to say the same thing! The only vault I would ever consider is the UD eyeliner vault. Other than that, no I would not buy a vault because of the money (unless I was a millionaire, which I am not) and the fact that some of the shades I just wouldn’t use, like in the case of a lip gloss vault. I would only wear certain shades so it’s not worth spending the money on shades I wouldn’t wear. Now as far as UD eyeliner goes, I would pretty much wear any shade and those are my all time favorite eyeliners and the way they price their vault it is totally worth it.

        Big yes….totally consider-worthy. But then I looked at how many I already had purchased singly, and thought, ya fool! I was sorting my liners into the Melt liner storage cases…iffy….and found an old Lucky that is fine. $saved. But UD outdoes mjb and most other brands for liner for me! Fave UD product. And agree with USE ALL COLORS!

    I have bought vaults once or twice, and use so little from them that I learned my lesson – DON’T DO DAT!!! 😀 Tarte is starting to irriatate me with their kiddie looking releases – I don’t need or want stars on the end of my brushes, thankyewverymuch, nor do I want all sorts of glitter/shimmer/fairy dust crap. They’re beginning to turn into a competitor for TF in the juvenile-looking-makeup department. And neither one is cheap! Tarte – you’re losin’ me… Driving me away, actually… Hmph… (old lady snort of disgust…..)

    I’m always tempted by vaults but there’s no way I’d use up 14 full-size lip products before I got sick of them or they went bad. I was really into mini sets for awhile but I noticed mini lipsticks tended to bend away or break off the tube easier and sometimes mini glosses wouldn’t cap as well and be gooey around the rim. So I buy full sized now but keep the numbers small (I think I have about a dozen total in my collection) since lippies are cream/liquid products.

      smart because I’m starting to feel the same about minis lately. They are kind of not worth it. Sometimes they are great for travel but sometimes they are just messy and break easy!

        I thought I was taking crazy pills until I polled a couple friends. Too bad…it was such a great way to try/have a ton of colors and feel like I could still possibly use them up. I’ve only used up one full-size lipstick in my entire life; I was a poor college student and I used that color every day because it was the only one I known. But I’ve used up a handful of lipstick minis and a ton of glosses before!!

          I think it is nice if you never tried the formula but if you have and you just get a bunch of minis that break or fault packaging it’s way disappointing. Honestly, if they concentrated a little more on the packaging I’d be inclined to buy more mini sets because it is a nice way to own a lot of shades and potentially use them up quickly as I can’t possibly use up full-size anything!

            I forgot the last set I got, I think the Bare Minerals Gen Nude one, I ended up throwing a few shades out due to breaking tips so yeah, quality control issue! :-/
