Buxom Pillow Pout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder Is Still Trying to Make Lip Powder a Thing

Buxom Pillow Pout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder ($22) is a new plumping lip powder with a semi-matte finish that provides a stained effect and a wear of eight hours with a smudge-proof formula that has a lightweight feel. And here we are again, with yet another brand trying to bring back lip powder. Will they succeed?

I think we can all agree that lip powders are super fun but man they age your lips by twenty years. The funniest part about Buxom Pillow Point Creamy Plumping Lip Powder (damn that’s a mouth full) is the lip swatches that the brand put out aren’t looking that fabulous! They actually look quite dry! Don’t get me wrong, those photos look picture perfect but it also looks like the color is falling into the natural lip lines and creating a drier look! But I’ll have to check them out for myself and see how things go.

Buxom launched these in ten shades with a sponge applicator that provides mess-free application. Like many of you this formula brings to mind Covergirl Advance Last Lipcolour from back in the day. I swear I remember that formula being brilliant but in reality my memory is tricking into believing that as I know it likely looked dry AF. That doesn’t stop me from wanting to try any new lip powders that launch though for fear I might be missing out on some brilliant formula.

Let’s hope Buxom delivers just that.

What do you think of Buxom Pillow Pout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder?

My main question is how does a lip powder plump!?

Ugghh… Back in the late 80s – early 90s when matte lipstick first arrived, I remember buying a Borghese powder lip color that came in a compact, like an eyeshadow. Of course it was the latest and the coolest but I recall it being just like having powder stuck on your lips. Now I’m way too old to pull off any matte lipstick, even if I wanted to.

I feel like EVERYTHING looks really bad on my lips lately. My lips are just too dry and color falls into my natural lip lines! 🙁

I don’t know about these particular lip powders but I think lip powders in general have gotten a lot better. Nars had a limited release lip powder palette in the summer that came with a balm that is used first. They aren’t drying at all and stay on very well. Chanel also had a trio of limited release lip powders that came with a balm and are really nice. So, I am thinking the trick with the Buxom ones will be to use over a balm since they don’t come with one.

It’s funny Susan mentions the NARS Erdem launch because I was popping in just to say I bought the lip palette (of course) and have had the WORST time managing it and am an inch away from giving up on powdered lips forever. How in the world do you use that tiny little brush? I barely picks up any product and I can’t seem to place the powder on my lips right. I just dab with my fingers, which you can imagine doesn’t really work so well..

What other powdered lip products are on the market?
