Haus of Gloi We Love Cake Perfume Oil Review
Haus of Gloi We Love Cake Perfume Oil is a collection of 7 cake scented perfume oils that I recently purchased from the Soap Box Company. Don’t quote me but these seem to be exclusive to the Soap Box Company since I didn’t find them on the Haus of Gloi website.
I know some of you are in Summer mode at the moment but I bet most of you, like me, are eagerly awaiting the Fall. Typically towards the end of June, the Fall season starts for me as many of my favorite Etsy and e-tailers start launching their Halloween and Fall Collections. I’m mentioning this because these new Haus of Gloi We Love Cake Perfume Oils scream Fall to me. I don’t really want to smell like cake at the moment. Coconuts, vanilla, sweet fruits, yes, but cake? Not so much! But come Fall, these will be a staple part of my fragrance round up!
The launch includes seven scents which are:
- Almond Caramel Espresso Cake
- Banana J. Foster Cake
- Bourbon Peach Cake
- Champagne Cake
- German Chocolate Cake
- Lavender Pear Anise Cake
- Linen & Lace
I tend to fall down a worm hole when it comes to launches like this and I can’t make up my mind which scent I really want and which I can leave behind. Since they were affordable at $15 each and they all sounded like they smelled good I decided to get them all. First world problems here when it comes to making difficult fragrance decisions.
My favorite of the bunch is Almond Caramel Espresso Cake which is a very strong coffee cake scent. A few dabs will have you smelling like Starbucks all damn day! I actually tried layering it with Philosophy’s new Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere and I ended up smelling like a cookie dunked in coffee. Sooooo delicious!
Banana J. Foster Cake tops my fav list as well! Ever have a slice of Entenmann’s Banana Crunch Cake? That’s what this smells like only with a ton more creamy banana!
Next up, Bourbon Peach Cake that smells incredibly boozy in the bottle but dries down to a fluffy white cake with boozed up peaches on top!
German Chocolate Cake wasn’t at all what I was expecting. I thought this would be a rich chocolate scent but it actually has a really nice nutty vibe to it along with hints of chocolate and smooth coffee. I’m not sure where the coffee comes into play but it does on my skin so I smell like a fancy mocha.
The two scents I’m still debating on are Linen & Lace Cake and Lavender Pear Anise Cake. Lavender Pear Anise Cake has a straight lavender note on my skin, no cake at all nor any pear or anise. I wasn’t too into it, I’m not a fan of lavender but I thought the pear and anise might make it have an exotic scent. It sadly didn’t.
Linen & Lace reminds me of an Airwick scent of some sort or Glade. I didn’t get a cake note from it but more of a soft gentle floral one. I’m not convinced I love it as it smells like air fresher to me.
All in all, I was quite happy with five of the seven blends I picked up. All of them had excellent throw and projection as well as a long wear with a few drops applied to my pulse points. If you’re a gourmand fan or like food-y fragrance I highly recommend picking some of these up!
