Comptoir Sud Pacifique Discovery Collection Still Delightful Despite Poor Packaging!

The Comptoir Sud Pacifique Discovery Collection ($18) is a new fragrance sampler set that launched at Sephora recently which I ended up purchasing with my 20% off Rouge discount. It’s already fairly priced but the extra discount is even more incentive to purchase it.

Sephora has been doing a great job of adding many niche fragrances to their permanent line which is great but what makes this situation better is the fact that they also have discovery sample sets available for many of their niche lines. Niche fragrance isn’t cheap by any means and it’s really, really nice to be able to purchase a sample set that includes all or most of the fragrances from a particular house for a great price. These sample sets not only give you an outlet to try before you buy but also if you simply can’t afford full-sizes of these fragrances you can still buy a sample set and enjoy them!

I own almost all the scents in the Comptoir Sud Pacifique Discovery Collection but I’m doing a good deal of traveling this Fall and rather than carry full-size fragrances I can just pack this away and have several smaller scents with me that I know I won’t risk breaking.

This is delightful set and especially great for vanilla lovers. Comptoir Sud Pacifique makes some beautiful vanilla cake-like fragrances that smell soooo yummy! They are also fairly long wearing on my skin! You can actually blend the scents as well to create your own unique fragrance!

The set includes 7 scents that are 0.07 oz in size and they are:

  • Vanille Abricot (tropical fruit blend with Tahitian vanilla and delicate sugar candy)
  • Vanilla Blackberry (fruity notes raised by flowers to evoke a seductive, bold intensity. This scent pairs well with Aloha Tiare or Vanille Abricot)
  • Vanilla Coco (creamy coconut with Tahitian tiare flower)
  • Vanilla Extreme (pure, strong vanilla)
  • Coco Figue (coconut with a zest of fig)
  • Aqua Moto (light, clean marine notes are blended with a hint of warm, caressing sand)

The set is lovely but the packaging is a bit disappointing. Like most sampler sets it comes in a binder-like box that holds the fragrance vials. This is quite a lovely presentation it’s the vials however, that are my issue. Like many of you, I prefer mists as I find the pour vials quite messy to use and the stoppers difficult to open. It’s a shame they decided to go with vials for this set as I think the mists would have been much, much better and would likely have sold way better as many people are simply put off by sample vials. None the less the set is delightful and an excellent way to introduce yourself to Comptoir Sud Pacifique if you haven’t already tried the line or a great way to snag some travel friendly versions of your favorite scents from the brand!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. Dabbers? Seriously? Comptoir Sud has always been difficult to source, beyond the 90s. I was looking to reup Vetyver Haiti. I think you can still get it in France or Italy, but here? Think it over and forget it! Being on the unisex, rather than gourmand train, I’d jump on Gouveneurs, Barbiers, and Safranier. They probably have been d/c’d. Men’s/unisex Comptoir Sud just aren’t around. And backburnered wish lists are useless with this outfit. But, if anyone is drawn to vanilla based scents, these are bound to be lovely. Motu is a summer must for me. At least that is widely available.

I ordered one with my 20% discount and can’t wait to try them! Vials aren’t my favorite either, but I plan to purchase full size sprays of any scents I fall in love with.
