5 stars out of 5

Stila Vivid & Vibrant Eyeshadow Duo ($20) is a new split-pan metallic and sparkle eyeshadow shade that’s available in six shade selections for the Fall 2018 season. It feels like Stila is headed back to their glory days with their Fall 2018 Collection as they really did an incredible job with the color selection and formulas in this launch. I’m very, very pleased with all the items I tried from the collection so far and it’s even making me look forward to the Holidays as some of the shades in this launch will look amazing for Holiday looks.

I’m not going to lie. There’s some mess when using the Vivid & Vibrant Eyeshadow Duo formula as you do get some fall out with the sparkle shade but the outstanding pigment and looks you can create might convince you to look the other way on that tiny flaw.

Stila Vivid & Vibrant Eyeshadow Duo come housed in a small gold compact that holds 0.09 oz of eyeshadow. It’s a really tiny compact which will take very little room to store not to mention it travels really light. It does have a small mirror inside and it was made in the USA.

I think maybe some people might have an issue with the split-pan due to the fact it doesn’t contain a contrasting shade of eyeshadow. I thought about this too and felt like, “What’s the point of having two shades that are the same but with different finishes?” In the end, I was ok with the fact it was just one shade. However, at one time Stila did have split-pans with two different shades and I’d really like to see that make a comeback at some point. And yes, it would have been pretty cool if these splits contained contrasting shades but in the end I made peace with the fact I could still get two somewhat different looks from using the different finishes.

The first side contains a soft, velvety, buttery textured metallic eyeshadow. Don’t worry there is absolute no frost here! The shade merely has a metallic sheen and applies and blends like a dream. The second shade is a shimmering finish that has a mix of shimmer and micro-glitter. Now, keep in mind you can use the two shades together. As in you can apply the metallic shade first and top it with the shimmer shade to add more sparkle. However, both shades have intense pigment and either of them can work easily all their own to create an eye look without needing to use both shades together. The pigment is one of the key focuses of the formula in my opinion as it is intense! A little goes a long way! There was a tiny bit of grittiness with the sparkle shade but it still had the same lovely velvety feel as the sparkle one. Both shades did suffer from fall out but the sparkle shade was the worst offender in that area with lots of stray glitter popping up on my cheeks as I applied. I choose to overlook this since the formula was so lovely.

Overall, Stila did a fantastic job with the Vivid & Vibrant Eyeshadow Duo I tried in Smoky Quartz. This is an outstanding formula that has a luxury texture and amazing pigment. I highly recommend not missing these. Today is the last day to grab them at stilacosmetics.com with free shipping and 25% off using promo code 25OFF.

Where to buy

Ulta Sephora Stila Beautylish

Stila Vivid & Vibrant Eyeshadow Duo is a new Fall 2018 eyeshadow range available in six shade selections that are 0.09 oz in size, $20 each, and made in the USA. Each eyeshadow is a single shade that’s split into two finishes of metallic and shimmer which can be applied individually or layered on top of each other. I thought the formula on the metallic side was smooth, buttery, with a velvety texture that applied quite well with minimal fall out. The shimmer side was just as lovely but had a slight grittiness and a good deal of glittery fall out during application. Both shades were extremely pigmented and created an outstanding eye look!

Pros

  • Richly pigmented and intense in color pay off.
  • Buttery formula with a smooth, velvety texture.
  • Outstanding Fall shade selections with some shades that will work well into Winter and the Holidays!

Cons

  • Fall out from the shimmer shade was a bit of a pain to clean up.
  • A small amount of grittiness to deal with on the shimmer shade but applied and blended well.

Who

Whether you’re a lover of metallic or shimmer shades you’re bound to love Stila Vivid & Vibrant Eyeshadow Duos! These are a great pick up for dramatic Fall eye looks and have an excellent formula and pigment to back them up!

Is it just me or has Stila made a phenomenal comeback recently?!? I remember several years back when I thought for sure they were on their way out…they lost their shelf space at our local SiJCP and it seemed like no one was really talking about them anymore. They’ve really done a great job of getting themselves back out there between their liquid eyeshadows and then well-done releases like this.

They have! And I truly believe that’s based off the success of the Glitter Eyeshadows! Those things are amazing ;-D I’m so so happy to see them back on track because they definitely had some rough patches when they were sold!

Stila used to have some of my favorite eyeshadows of all time, back when they were truly an indie brand. I still have 3-4 of their DIY palettes and I’m sad that they discontinued the shadow singles that you could put in them.

This is an absolutely glorious shade and the two finishes really turns it into something quite luxe.
It looks really sensational on your eyes with that vibrant red lipstick. Very glam.
I can recall when Stila produced those sensational palettes of In the Know, In the Garden etc. and they were stunning. So I hope they are getting back to their glory days.

On another note, when our budget beauty shop here in Aus Priceline, had their half price 3 day sale a little while ago, I picked up the Maybelline Burgundy Bar for $12.50, instead of the $26 or so they normally charge for it. I picked it up because I remember you raving about it on your blog here. And OMG – it is so, so stunning. I cannot believe that this is a DS offering. I love the shade selection and those beautiful rich cream, taupe and rose shades are gorgeous. Even the darker burgundy shade I love as I am now starting to add some rich plum shades into my wardrobe and this dark burgundy works so well on my eyes to complement it. I wouldn’t have purchased this little dream unless I saw it recommended here. So thank you very much Muse.

I noticed that you didn’t mention if the products could be used wet and whether there is a better color pay-off if you use your fingers. What do you think?
