So, I guess Tarte Shape Tape Foundation didn’t quite make as big an impact as everyone thought it would considering they are reducing the price so much lately! It’s available at Ulta.com for $23 in both the matte and hydrating formulas! If you’ve been wanting to try it this might be a good opportunity to grab it!

Enjoy!

I got this in the hydrating formula. I figured for $23 what the heck! I like it. Is it Earth-shattering? No. But as a basic, every day foundation it’s fine. Would not pay full price for it. Plus, I use a foundation brush so I don’t really care for the big applicator. Then I was thinking when you get to the end of the bottle it’ll be hard to get the product out, even storing it upside down. Also, don’t get any “hydration” benefits from it. I do believe you are correct in that it was not the “hit” they anticipated.

Did you try these foundation, in either formula? Do they suck? This is only an academic interest for me.

I didn’t bother bc everyone kept saying the formulas were spot on for the concealer!

I’m sure this means it’ll be discontinued… It’s my go-to foundation at the moment. I have the worst luck — many things I consider holy Grail/favorites get the axe!! /Sadface

The Rainforest of the Sea Aqua Foundation, sold on Tarte.com and at Sephora, is one of my favorite foundations … it sheers out nicely and they have a really fair neutral shade that works for me. It did take three tries to find the right match, but I never liked Shape Tape”thick and goopy. Between that and the bungled introduction of the ST foundation, it never really had a chance with me.

Rainforest is def nice, so is the concealer which I really liked the texture of! I never tried Shape Tape Foundation but I do like the concealer but it is super thick compared to Rainforest!

I got the hydrating one with the last bag-of-stuff offer for $65 they had. After EBates everything came out to about $9 an item or something. I like matte makeup and I usually use powder makeup and this is WAY too wet for me. I’ll try it again in winter. My skin is normal, sometimes dry from rosacea meds but this stuff is like having water gel suspended on my face, ugh. It takes forever to “set.” I swatched the matte one in-store but it felt like it would be chalk on my face.

I bought (then returned) the matte formula last week. No matter how I primed and applied it, it was too drying for my normal-to-dry skin. I like a matte look, but this just didn’t work for me. I have the hydrating formula from its previous incarnation as the Gel Hybrid foundation (in the jar). I can make that one work for me, if I use a smoothing primer and then set the crap out of it with both powder and spray. All in all, Tarte’s Amazonian Clay foundation is the only one of theirs that really blows my skirt up.
