5 stars out of 5

As you know Iconic Avon Lipstick ($6.99) launched with the Avon Holiday 2018 Collection in five different shades for $6.99 each and I quickly snapped up a few during Avon’s Black Friday Sale (20% Off). Avon Lipstick brings me so many good makeup blogging memories back! I remember being a total snob about Avon and after trying their lipsticks being blown away at how affordable and crazy good the formula is.

The new Iconic Avon Lipsticks really take us way back to days of old with delightful Norman Rockwell-like packaging and a reminder that Avon is nearly 133 years old. Who even know? They have an EST of 1886 on the lipstick boxes!

I just love these. They have such a retro vintage feel that makes me think Marilyn Monroe would be quite comfortable whipping one out of her purse for a quick touch up. The boxes have lovely little historical ladies gracing the front and the barrels have lovely designs on the caps that really stand out like a leopard print and the festive red and green plaid against a cream background! It’s just a beautiful presentation that would also make a beautiful gift for lipstick lovers!

I got three shades and I do regret not purchasing others! Although, I would warn against Merry Mauve as it’s a frost finish and I’m of the firm belief frost is the devil’s work. One of the standout festive shades would be the deep, rich red that’s called Holly Red. And for those looking for a nice nude the tan caramel Holiday Chocolate is lovely!

Iconic Holiday Lipstick Swatches (Holly Red, Merry Mauve, Holiday Chocolate)

Avon has changed a lot over the past several years and I feel like some of that happened after Jillian left as the Global Creative Color Director. When she was there it felt like there were so many more releases! Nowadays, it seems like seasonal releases and limited edition items are rarer. I mean 8 years ago or so, it seemed like Avon had a new lipstick ever few months they were promoting but now you’d be lucky if there’s one a year.

I’m happy to say these are a great formula as I felt for sure quality suffered as well since Jillian left. But it hasn’t. These reminded me why I love Avon Lipstick so much!

The texture is a gel-like consistency that had a smooth, almost slick glide on my drier lips. They slide across my lips in an easy glide and have a lightweight formula that feels lightly moisturizing with an opaque finish on a single layer and a wear of about five hours with no feathering or migration issues. I just can’t rave this enough as it feels so light on my lips yet still packs pigment. The formula is quite lovely and feels very high-end. Avon really nails it with lipstick and I’m happy to say that somethings don’t change. There are so many brands that have changed their formulas and not for the better. I haven’t purchased an Avon Lipstick in ages but it’s nice to know that it’s still as good as it once was!

All in all, Iconic Avon Lipstick is a fantastic pick up! DO get some of these for yourself, as gifts for your makeup loving friends, for your mom, whoever! I can’t think of a single person that wouldn’t find these delightful!

Darling…don’t hate on the frost, it looks wonderful on you! I to am an Avon lipstick lover. They not only go on beautifully, they stay on and feel so comfortable on my lips. Also, my mom was an “Avon Lady” in the 70’s, I was in the 80’s and in the ’00’s and one of my closest friends is as well. I get such a nostalgic feeling using it. Oh, and if you haven’t tried the Glazewear lipgloss, at least grab a clear…so slippery. I’ve been a counter mgr. for Clinique, a DM for Sally’s…etc. I have favorites in almost every line, but nothing takes me back like a fresh new tube of Avon lipstick! These are so retro…can’t wait to whip one out with my new matching mirror from this collection, so glamorous. Thanks for all you do for us.

I love this post! My Grammy sold Avon for over 50 years! I remember helping her fill and deliver her orders when I was a little girl. She and Avon are the reason I fell in love with makeup. ❤️

I use to buy Avon lipsticks mostly. They were pretty good back then. Then I got tired of the repetitive shades. Always too much pink or peach in their Nude lipsticks. So I ended up just losing interest altogether. Also ph in my lips would some times change the colour of the Lipsticks on me. So that was a little frustrating. These do look pretty though. How’s the quality of these now. What brand would you compare the current quality of these lipsticks too?

I am so glad you did these swatches of the Beautiful AVON Nostalgic cases! Really helped me a lot in making up my mind as to what to get. I am like you I really love there lipsticks because they are so affordable and love all the shades. Well I just love AVON especially their eyeliners, and skincare. Thank you so much, I love your
Posts and look forward to them everyday!

Yay! I bought some of these and AVON’s other holiday releases because the packaging was just irresistible… but I do admit, I am regretting buying the brown. I don’t wear anything other than red, point blank period. The two reds are very lovely though! The blushes were horrendous for me, unfortunately… the peach was nothing but shimmer and the pink was stiff and hard to blend out. The star shaped perfume decanters are also cute, but I only ended up liking one fragrance.
So out of the eight things I bought, I ended up only keeping three. 🙁 It’s really a shame because I adore the packaging.

Hi Isabella do you know if there’s a dupe for the iconic holiday lipstick merry mauve. I’m obsessed and it’s beautiful but dropped it somewhere Thanks love sincerely, Veronica O.

I WISH I knew of a dupe! But check Avon’s site, earlier last month they were on sale and still available! And ebay sellers have plenty!
