5 stars out of 5

MAC Soft Teddy Eyeshadow ($17) is one of several new eyeshadows that launched with the MAC In Monochrome Collection. The In Monochrome Collection focuses on cult-favorite shades that are grouped into six mini collections each of which includes matching lipglass, blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick. I think many of these shades will likely already appear in your collection such as Ruby Woo, Velvet Teddy, Candy Yum Yum, etc…! However, MAC took things further with all these best loved shades and introduced them in new formulas which is very exciting if say you already have Ruby Woo Lipstick and always found yourself wanting an eyeshadow and a blush in the same shade.

Granted, I think MAC did take liberties with some of the shades as they aren’t all sport on dupes for your favorite shades. They are however, variations of them! For example, Velvet Teddy Lipstick and Soft Teddy Eyeshadow don’t look anything alike but they do compliment each other!

Here’s a look at the MAC Soft Teddy Eyeshadow!

Just a note, my memory card is being goofy and the close up shot I had of this eyeshadow isn’t included in this review! I will update later with it!

MAC Soft Teddy Eyeshadow is bound for greatness and I hope MAC keeps it around but I do think it might be limited edition which means I might need to grab a backup! This is such a great shade that requires no effort at all to create a quick, easy, yet lovely natural look.

MAC calls it a soft rosy beige but I’d probably leave out beige and go with just a dusky rose with brown undertone once I applied it on my eyes. In the pan though, it def has a weird rose beige element and it looks incredibly uneventful and boring but applies beautifully on my lids. The finish is matte, the look it creates simple, but it manages to accent my eyes very nicely.

This isn’t the silkiest nor the most pigmented MAC eyeshadow I’ve run across but it applies and blends flawlessly and builds perfectly. I imagine it would make a nice base shade for a sparkle shadow or even as a transitional shade. I personally love it all by itself as it let my glowy blush play center stage along with the nude lips I embraced with it!

Needless to say, I really loved MAC Soft Teddy Eyeshadow and can see myself purchasing a backup just in case. It’s a keeper shade that I’ll likely get a lot of use out of because sometimes, in the morning, I just want to accent my eyes and go and this does just that. It takes little effort to apply and makes me look fabulous in seconds!

Where to buy

MAC Ulta Macy’s

MAC Soft Teddy Eyeshadow is 0.05 oz in size and $17. This shade is part of the new In Monochrome Collection but I am unsure if it is a limited edition release or if it will become part of the permanent MAC eyeshadow collection. The color is a lovely dusky rose tan with a brown undertone. It’s not the softest, silkiest, nor pigmented shade of MAC eyeshadow I ever tried but it is a gorgeous color that accents eyes with a natural wash of rose making it an ideal pick for quick and easy looks!

Pros

  • Easy to blend and apply!
  • Looks smooth and flawless on lids.
  • Very pretty natural dusky rose for easy looks!

Cons

  • Not the softest, silkiest, or pigmented MAC eyeshadow around!

Who

I think if you have a fairly quick makeup routine in the AM that MAC Soft Teddy Eyeshadow might be your best friend. It’s such a great shade to accent eyes without a lot of work!

I must purchase! I am a person who just likes to accent the eyes a bit, add some definition and this looks great! Thanks for reviewing! Xoxo

I have become you! ;-D I just like a little something to accent lately! Nothing too dramatic. This is ideal for that ;-D My pleasure!

I find the the boring in the pan shades usually translate to really pretty on the eyes, at least when it comes to soft rosy browns that are less pigmented and more buildable. They’re just pretty, effortless shades.

preach sis ;-D that’s the truth and yes, rosy browns are sort of a no brainer ;D

I love the color, simple but look pretty on your eyes! Velvet Teddy is one of my favorite MAC lipstick. Thank you for the review.

Soft Teddy, warm teddy, little ball of fuuur…. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Pretty color, I may have to get this!

Perfect one and done, SFW, for anyone darker medium and lighter than that. Don’t think it would be great on darker skintones, but it could surprise you. Velvet Teddy, on the other hand, does flatter darker skintones, as a lighter nude. Pretty sure it’s duped in stash, as well, looooove.

Yup! Love that too in the AM when I’m rushing! Might be a little chalky on darker tones though! but you are right, ya never know!

  • courtney

ok, you sold me on this as soon as i read pretty much the first few sentences of your post! i did read your reply on the CT Pillow Talk quad post that Soft Teddy would be a dupe possibly, and i think i NEED Soft Teddy! i love a good dusky rose with brown. so flattering for brown eyes like ours 🙂

Yay ;-D I hope it works out for you! It’s a great shade and def produces the same look CT PT does without the sparkle factor of course!
