About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’m always hesitant to use Sephora brand skincare, mainly because they discontinue stuff so quickly in favor of the next trend. If I use this and like it, it will be gone by the time I go to repurchase. Sorry for the rant lol.

I want to try the Hyaluronic Acid but I have sensitive skin. Would it be ok for me to use products with this ingredient? 😮

There is no way to predict. I’d get a sample and occlusive tape a small dab to your forearm while you sleep, and see if the spot is raised or red in the AM. But even then, you cannot be sure that any ‘offender’ is actually the HA. If you have not checked your ok products’ ingredients lists, you might be using HA already. Remember that one of the issues is the % or concentration of that ingredient. US products list the ingredients in order of amount in the product, but often do not give %, as you might see on a Rx, like Mometasone .05. Other countries do not use the same labelling laws, which has caused some furor about Asian vs. American vs. European ingredients lists. I say: keep a s/c diary or spreadsheet. Use Cosdna, EWG, and Paula’s ingredients dictionary. Get nerdy. Get knowledge. Learn. It’s the only way to protect yourself.

        Thank you! 😀

I do check the ingredients list and all of that, it’s just that I got a sample of the Etude House Real Hyaluronic Ampoule (my skincare is more of korean brands because my skin gets very irritated with the american ones) but I just really want to try the HA because it is said to moisture and hydrate your skin. The only thing is I’m just kind of scare to use acids and even though I have the sample, I’m just indecisive to use it :’D

I know the topic was of different brands, but I saw HA and just wanted to know other opinions or experiences ^^

What amino acids? I don’t see any. Might try the eye cream, but not before I try the Laneige eye sleeping. Been going too rich on undereye, and got a few milia. Agreed about S skincare in general and the d/c factor. You’d think they’d have a stable core.

I love how affordable all the products are and the ingredients look ok for sensitive skin. I’d be willing to try them at those price points. Worse case scenario, my SO gets them if they don’t work for me since he enjoys using my fancy products.

I was pretty excited seeing these, but they all seem to have fragrance added. Fragrance is more likely to jack up sensitive skin than some of the stuff they didn’t include in order to label them all “clean”. Is it too much to ask for simple, functional, and affordable skincare? (Guess I’m here to rant too.)

Why, oh why will companies not put eye products (and products in general) into tubes instead of jars? It’s so unhygienic! Yes, I have little spatulas, but my cat always runs off with them and they’re just generally a pain to keep track of.
