4 stars out of 5

Catrice Blush Box ($5.99) is a new cheap as chips powder blush that the brand launched for Spring 2019 in six shade selections and two finishes of matte or gold shimmer. Can you guess why this caught my eye? If you guessed gold shimmer you’d be correct. I’m a NARS Orgasm fan girl through and through and any and every blush that claims to have gold shimmer does so excite me and reminds me of my beloved Orgasm!

I love a good golden pink or peach blush and this seemed like a good pick up not to mention so darn cheap!

Catrice Blush Box arrives in a black plastic compact which holds 0.21 oz of blush. The packaging is pretty simple and the only cute aspect might be the “empowering” print featured on the blush. I choose the shade Golden Coral and it says “Super Woman to Be”. There are other prints that say “Run the World” and “Break the Rules” etc…! It felt a little, for lack of a better word, silly seeing these little blurbs printed on a blush but I know I personally like whimsical and cute makeup so, this might fit into that category for some. I personally, don’t really need to be cheered on by my blush haha…!

The shade I choose due to the name, Golden Coral, and also, because I like peachy and coral blushes. I assumed since it was called “golden” that it would perhaps be luminous or contain shimmer. It did not. I guess it fits into the blush’s matte finish category and not the “golden shimmer” one. I was a little disappointed as I was hoping to try a shimmer one! I did order online and it was hard to tell which were matte and which were shimmer but you might have better luck with the shade Glistening Pink if you are seeking a shimmer shade as that does appear to be one! The shade was a bit disappointing as there’s nothing really golden nor coral about it. It’s more of a a warmer orange in my opinion!

I wouldn’t say this was matte in finish but more a satin. It’s a little dusky but not dry nor chalky, it’s quite silky and it blends flawlessly. Although the texture is satiny it actually applies matte and doesn’t contain a sheen. It also has a very smooth finish without adhering to drier areas. The formula is apparently waterproof and sweat resistant. It’s a bit too cold in New York to really tell if this is going to withstand the heat and sun. It did wear perfectly great in the cold weather for about seven hours before showing some signs of fading.

Catrice is always so reliable at providing high quality at a small price tag. This Blush Box is a lovely formula that applied well and looked great! All in all, a friendly beauty budget pick up for blush lovers!

Where to buy

Ulta

Catrice Blush Box is a new, permanent blush available in six shades that launched for Spring 2019 which is $5.99 and 0.21 oz in size. The blush comes in either a matte or golden shimmer finish. I picked up the shade Golden Coral which had a more satiny finish but did apply matte without shimmer or sparkle. The name was a little misleading as I thought this would be a shimmer finish. The texture was a little dusky but not chalky nor dry and had a very silky formula that applied and blended well. The formula is supposed to be waterproof and sweat resistant but I didn’t test it in such a condition that I was getting wet nor sweaty but did feel it lasted well for seven hours without fading!

Pros

  • Great pick for budget beauty lovers that don’t want to dish a lot out but still want quality!
  • Silky formula that applies well!

Cons

  • Basic packaging.

I’ve never liked luminous blushes on myself because I have oily skin and larger pores, so this looks perfect to me! Coral/orange and red blushes seem to really fit my yellow skin more than pink, so I’m always excited to see something a little different, especially from such a cheap brand.
At least you have lots of other NARS dupes to choose from since this one didn’t quite fit the bill!! 🙂
