There’s not a lot of unique happening in the world of drugstore shampoo and conditioner! Sure, there’s brands like Carol’s Daughter which has become available in a variety of stores like Walmart and Target but there’s also a lot of brands that all run together and after trying a lot of them they just seem like the same o’ same o’. Herbal Essences comes to mind in this case. I mean don’t get me wrong some of their hair care smells amazing but after you start purchasing and using it you realize it all starts to smell the same.

Recently, I ran across Garnier Whole Blends Ginger Recovery Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner and I gotta admit my mind was kind of blown. And no, sadly it isn’t because of the formula. The formula is still filled with silicones which is either a yay or nay for your hair. Nope, the formula isn’t groundbreaking but the fragrance is.

When you purchase the standard round of shampoos and conditioners are the drugstore from brands like Pantene, Herbal Essences, etc…you run across the same round up of generic scents from these brands and the start smelling all the same!

But oh my gosh this is such a delightful surprise! It’s a warm, spicy, exotic ginger fragrance! It sort of reminds me of a darker version of Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific!

I can’t even begin to describe it but I can tell you it doesn’t smell like anything I’ve personally tried before from the drugstore or even from higher-end hair care. It’s smells really beautiful! Hell, I’d go so far and say it even reminds me a little of the Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil Blush scent!

You need it!

Or at least you need to try it ๐Ÿ™‚

It smells amazing and gets a Muse Approval from yours truly!

P.S. The only problem is there isn’t a complete line of products scented like this! They only have shampoo, conditioner, and a leave-in cream conditioner. I’d love some hair gel, hair spray, spray in conditioner, a perfume….haha!

Have you tried Garnier Whole Blends Ginger Recovery?

Did you love the way it smells!?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. But is the conditioner any good–as in, does it moisturizer well? My hair has been so dry lately due to winter air and sitting in front of the heater all day. LOL!

It does but you might have issues with build up due to the silicones! If you’re cool with that, yup, plenty of moisture ;-D

Thanks! I love warm ginger scents–it’s just so comforting on a cold day!

I was just cruising Asian bath, and there’s LOTS of ginger based haircare in C,J, and T. I think of it as a scalp stimulant/tonic. This sounds very pleasant, but I doubt it gives your scalp a workout.

The formula sounds like a nay for me; the Garnier stuff always seems like a miss for my hair! ๐Ÿ™ Muse, have you tried the Herbal Essences coffee fruit scent? That one is pretty unique and has some nice depth to it! I’ve been needing more hydration though, so I’ve been using the Love Planet and Beauty sandalwood line, which is lovely if you like sandalwood!

I haven’t tried this scent, but I have tried a few other Garnier Whole Blends and have to say I really like them. I LOVE Ginger, so will picking this up.

I’ve been so disappointed with the selection of new hair care products lately! Nothing really catches my eye and I have yet to locate my HG combo. I’ve been testing the “Delicate Oat” variation from this same Whole Blends line and haven’t been impressed with the formula. I thiiiiiiink Back to Basics is the shampoo/conditioner brand that I used to love and buy from Ulta, but considering I can barely find it anywhere now, I’m wondering if I’m wrong… Those weird bottles just look so familiar. I still like Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla shampoo, but I can only use it once or twice a week because it’s a bit too heavy for my fine hair… I just can’t resist because it smells so yummy!

The bottles look familiar because Herbal Essences used to look just like this “whole blends”ย. Wayyyyy back before Herbal Essences switched to the bright colors and bright scents in the 90s I think

Sounds nice. Have you tried the Body Shop’s ginger haircare, and if so, do you think the scent is similar?

Thank you so much for posting about this amazing shampoo and conditioner. I bought some on Saturday, and you weren’t kidding. This stuff smells amazing!!! I love it!

I was not interested until you mentioned that PF blush and YES, I live for the scent of that blush and I need it in a perfume ASAP. I have horrid dandruff and very fragile curly hair, so I don’t know how much use I can get out of this… but maybe I can put on just enough of it before I rinse my hair so that it gives my hair a scent? Interesting!

I agree! Just bought this and it smells amazing!!! Like a great Christmas cookie lol
