If you told me I’d fall in love with Bare Minerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick I’d probably call you a liar. Bare Minerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick was one of my top requested items to review for Spring 2019 from a lot of readers who e-mailed asking if I tried the formula and I didn’t really relish the idea of purchasing and reviewing it because I’m so over matte lip everything. The finish just isn’t one I really like nor do I find comfortable wearing.

But I went on merry way and purchased a single shade of Bare Minerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick and now I find myself needing ALL the shades.

Don’t ask me how this happened. I really didn’t expect to love this formula but Bare Minerals did a brilliant job with the BarePro Longwear Lipstick texture and formula. It’s an insta-love for sure! I have no doubt after trying this formula you’ll adore it.

First off, I’m a lover of slimline lipsticks. It’s a packaging/look that brings back a lot of good makeup memories. It’s a very 80s/early 90s look! I just like how slim lipsticks look, store, and most importantly how easily they apply. I like the small design for some reason and find it very travel friendly and easy the tip always seems to fit the contour of my lips easily. This particularly tube holds 0.07 oz of lipstick and will set you back $20 bucks. The size is a little iffy especially if you’re a Statement Lipstick fan as that’s the same price and you get 0.12 oz of lipstick. Since the quality is here I didn’t mind the smaller size!

Bare Minerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick in Nutmeg

Bare Minerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick Swatches (Nutmeg)

This is a full-coverage lipstick that they say has a soft matte finish. It’s rich in a few different oils like sunflower, raspberry, and blackcurrant oils. It also contains Jojoba Wax. All of these elements promise to hydrate, nourish, and keep lips smooth and hydrated through the promises eight hour wear. Believe me, I’ve tried plenty of matte lipsticks that are “rich in” this or that oil but are dry as hell. So, all these promises of a hydrating formula I did take with a grain of salt.

And Bare Minerals proved me wrong…! There’s no dryness at all here. And indeed, you get a soft, creamy matte finish. This lipstick pratically applies by itself. It’s very creamy and buttery with an easy, smooth glide across my dry lips. It looks smooth and flawless and the matte finish is very wearable without looking dry or aging. The color is rich, pigmented, and fully opaque on a single layer as well. It was an absolute joy to apply and a joy to wear. I was a little shocked as I did go into this purchase thinking it would be another ho-hum matte lipstick in reality it’s a very creamy and comfortable wearing formula that I fell in love with. I didn’t quite get the promises eight hour wear from it. I can get about six hours without feathering or migration however, it will transfer on my cup but the color remains fairly strong throughout the wear and I can easily eat with it on and blot my lips without it completely disappearing.

All in all, a very comfortable, long-wearing, and luxurious matte lipstick well worth checking out.

I’m giving Bare Minerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick a Muse Approval. But one but just know you’ll want more once you try it!

Where to buy

Sephora Ulta Nordstrom

Bare Minerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick is a new long-wearing soft matte lipstick that contains a mix of different hydrating oils that give lips a soft, matte finish. This lipstick is $20, available in 20 shades, and it’s 0.07 oz in size. This is a slim line lipstick which might account for the smaller size of 0.07 oz compared the Bare Mineral’s Statement Lipstick Collection which contains about 0.05 oz more in comparison and sets you back the same price. I found the formula was well worth the price and size issue. This is a creamy, buttery lipstick that applied flawlessly with rich, intense pigmentation on a single layer that had a soft, creamy matte finish which wore for a good six hours without feathering or migrating. I noticed no flavor or fragrance in the formula.

Pros

  • Very pigmented!
  • Comfortable, creamy matte finish.

Cons

  • A little small for the size (0.07 oz).

Who

Anyone wary of matte lipsticks but likes the finish should try out Bare Minerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick for size! The formula is creamy, comfortable to wear, yet still gives you a very nice soft matte finish without looking or feeling dry!

I bought one in a coral shade and was surprised at how much I like it!

I purchased these when they first came out on QVC — two different sets, for a total of five shades, plus then recently I bought another shade. I like them much better than the liquid matte lipcolors that BareMinerals also sells. I still wish they would produce more subtle colors, especially mauves, in this format — something like XOX or Mantra from the Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick line. Many of the BarePro shades are vivid, like the Statement shades, and those are hard for me to wear. Like you, my experience has been that they don’t last 8 hours, but still last longer than the Gen Nude or Statement Radiant Lipsticks. Still prefer the look of the Radiant Lipsticks however — not too glossy, not too matte, just right.

Funny, I swatched one of these on my hand in sephora the other day and it reminded me of the first version of the Revlon Colorstay lipsticks – they lasted a long time but were so super dry! I’ll have to try it again on my lips next time.
