I Wish Tarte Sugar Spritz Body Spray Was as Good as Tarte Cake Butter!
Tarte Sugar Spritz Body Spray is a new fragrance that launched with the Sugar Rush Collection a few weeks ago. I was pretty excited about this launch because Tarte’s Sweet Tarte Perfume was such a massive hit for me.
First off, you have an entire collection called Sugar Rush so the fragrance mist must be sweet and sugary right? Secondly, the Sweet Tarte fragrance was really quite lovely and many of you, like me, really enjoyed it. So how could Tarte get Sugar Spritz Body Spray wrong!? They can’t right?!
Or can they?
Tarte Sugar Spritz Body Spray is $19 and 5.07 oz in size. It arrives in a really cool clear light purple bottle! If you want to try this I do recommend going with the 5 for $25 deal that Tarte is running on the Sugar Rush Collection. Basically, this allows you to choose any five deluxe samples from the Sugar Rush Collection for $25 bucks. It’s a nice way to easily test the products before spending money on the larger size. I actually did this BUT my best friend stole away the little sample of Sugar Spritz I got a chance to try it!
But I thought “hey, I can totally blind buy this without actually smelling it!” “I bet I’ll love it!”
Well, I don’t love but I don’t hate it either. It’s just uneventful.
The thing is, Tarte did a crazy good job on their new Sugar Rush Cake Butter. A reader told me it smells like Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream and she was spot on! It really does! It’s beautiful!
Anyway, I made my purchase of Sugar Spritz Body Spray based off the assumption it smelled like Cake Butter. It does not. The two scents are completely different. Which is a shame as they are cheaper than Sel De Janeiro’s offerings plus if they shared the same scent they’d have layered quite nicely together particularly because on its own this fragrance mist is pretty weak on its own.
So, what does Sugar Spritz smell like. I have no idea. No seriously, it’s tough to say. They say it smells fruity, floral and fresh but Tarte doesn’t reveal the notes. To me it smells a little bit like a sugary cake at firs but there’s this very weird cucumber note that kills the entire fragrance. The initial mist is quite warm sugary smell! I like it! But as it settles onto your skin cucumber comes creeping in and it just really ruined the gourmand mood. They got those initial notes down great but they somehow got confused if they wanted to be fresh and floral or sweet and floral along the way. They are trying to combine too much into the fragrance. You got a fresh, crisp cucumber, a slightly sweetened burn sugar note, and a light musky floral. None of the three really work together.
The scent is wearable enough but also weaker with a shorter wear. As soon as I spritz some on I’d say 30 minutes later it’s gone! But of course, this will vary according to body chemistry.
I was left wishing Tarte Sugar Spritz Body Spray was as good Tarte Cake Butter!
Anyone try it?
