Resurfacing moisturizers are all the rage at the moment! Every brand wants to combine your daily exfoliation treatment right into your moisturizer to get you smooth, glowing, hydrated skin. Do they work? I’m been using Glamglow Good In Bed for a while now and also, the new Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask from Glow Recipe. So far, I like both! They are highly hydrating but I’m a little iffy on if they are or aren’t exfoliating my skin as I sleep at night.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Youthquake Hydra-full Retexturizing Gel Creme ($65) not only acts to hydrate your skin and help to retain it with sodium hyaluronate but it also contains pineapple enzymes that helps to retexture your skin giving it a smooth, even surface for makeup to adhere to. It also happens to have a tropical fragrance not everyone will love but sort of just sold me on buying it.

Happy Monday Muse! Even though you got up before the butt crack of dawn I hope your day goes well. I’m looking forward to your review on this. I’m with you, I’m a little iffy about these resurfacing moisturizers. My skin is dry like yours and tends towards dull so careful exfoliating is a part of my routine. I’ve tried a couple of sample sizes of products like this and had the same experience as you. I noticed hydration but the exfoliating was questionable. I compared them over the course of about a week against my Lancer method skin polish….and no contest. The Lancer won hands down each time and the difference was noticeable.

Of course physical exfoliation is more aggressive so that’s probably why these haven’t really worked for me. I want to see and feel a difference.

haha ;-D thanks! I’m always up at stupid o’clock to start work on the blog before heading to my real job. No funnnnn! Today was a day I wanted to just sleep in but real life calls. I think exfoliating moisturizers can be handy and gentle with drier skin like ours however, I think the results are slow going. I def feel like they are hydrating but I do question how much exfoliating they are doing. This contains a hell of a lot of pineapple enzymes so that might def smooth things out but the fragrance likely kills it for a lot of people. I def want to see instant results otherwise I’m just eh. Physical exfoliating seems the best route for me as I get results RIGHT away and don’t have to wait.

The irony being that artificial fragrances in skin care age you faster and are actually damaging. Oh, capitalism! Also, the name just continues to play on youth as the standard of beauty. And I say this as a young, 20 year old. Blah.
