Tarte Beach Cheeks Cream Blush ($15) is a new cream blush that launched with the new Tarte Sugar Rush Collection that’s available in two shade selections. This is one of those blushes that you might want to pick up for really quick blush and go days. You ever have those days where you simply can’t be arsed to apply a full face of makeup? I have them more often than not lately. I think I’ve become a bit lazy in my old age because at one point in my life I wouldn’t leave the house without my face on perfectly. On the weekends though I’m all about taking a breather and just getting out there all bared faced and naked.

Beach Cheeks Creams Blush is probably not the best formula I’ve ever tried but it might be a pick up if you want a lighter blush or you don’t wear a lot of blush and just want a gentle flush of color.

Or you just want a blush that comes housed in a shell-shaped compact that screams Ariel and under da sea because you want to be a mermaid when you grow up. Seriously though, the packaging…! I think Instagram and makeup brands ruined mermaids for me in all honesty but sometimes my cold dead heart comes alive again for cute mermaid themed beauty. This cute shell compact is pretty adorable and might I say oddly not very fitting with the whole Sugar Rush range! Seems like it would have been better suited to launch with Tarte’s Be a Mermaid & Make Waves Eyeshadow Palette because the two look quite cute together.

I’m not a big, big cream blush person as they tend to get swallowed up on my skin and disappear. But the promo images of the model’s wearing these blushes looks so pretty I decided to check them out. I picked up the shade Beaches & Cream and it’s a hell of a lot sheerer than the promo image but I guess that’s to be expected. Beaches & Cream is a pretty medium coral peach.

This formula is a lightweight cream formula with a lightly emollient texture that sets to a satin finish on my drier skin. The finish is quite smooth and doesn’t adhere to my drier cheeks. I suspect it won’t accentuate visible pores either as the formula blends in quite easily and flawlessly. I loved the shade! It’s quite pretty but it sort of goes chalky on me which was disappointing. The wear isn’t too bad and color doesn’t start to fade for about five hours on my drier skin! You might find your millage varies with the wear though as I always feel cream blush works differently on different skin types.

I wasn’t terribly impressed with the pigment. The color is great for a quick hint of tint but you really have to build it up and even built up it still looks very sheer. It’s a natural flush of color but I’m used to way more pigment in my blushes so the color payoff did disappoint me. I think darker skin tones will struggle with the sheerness and the lack of darker shades sadly.

Tarte Beach Cheeks Cream Blush might be a good pick for lighter blush days which is how I’ll be using it. However, this formula disappointed me a bit! It applies and blends well but it wears shorter for me and the color just wasn’t pigmented enough to make a lasting impression!

Where to buy

Tarte Ulta

Tarte Beach Cheeks Cream Blush is a new, permanent cream blush that’s available in two shade selections for $15 each that are 0.15 oz. The blush comes housed in a cute shell compact that has a small mirror inside but no applicator or brush. The formula is a lighter, thinly textured cream blush that had a sheer color pay off that applied and blended easily and wore for about five hours on my dry skin. Going on the formula has a lightly emollient fell but doesn’t set to a dewy finish but more of a satiny smooth one that didn’t adhere to my drier cheeks. I wasn’t particularly thrilled with the lack of pigment and even felt the shade looked a bit chalky.

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Cute!
  • Lightly creamy texture applies and blends easily.
  • Doesn’t adhere to dryness, has a smooth finish!

Cons

  • Lacks pigment even when built up.
  • Shorter wear.
  • Color seems chalky and dulling rather than giving cheeks a pretty pop of color!
