Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon Lipstick for Summer 2019

Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon Lipstick ($9.49) are bringing back good vibrations from makeup years past. Remember when Maybelline was all about chubby lip pencils? It seems like ages since anyone has done a chubby lip pencil! I know I was obsessed with them at the time! Actually, I still am!

Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon Lipstick are the newest lip pencil collection to enter the scene this Summer. It’s a little slow in the drugstore world for makeup releases in my opinion. Also, many brands have migrated their latest launches online versus stores. Physicians Formula, Wet n Wild, and quite a few others have taken to launching all their newest items and collections online. I personally hate that because I don’t like waiting for shipping nor paying for it or having to reach a threshold to get it. It’s a pain. I’d rather walk into Harmons and have a look at what’s news, pop stuff into my cart, check out, and go! No shipping costs, no waiting, it’s an ideal situation for me when it comes to drugstore makeup! But those days are sort of long gone and the latest and hottest launches can’t be found in stores as quickly anymore.

Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon Lipstick hasn’t reach stores yet and is available at Ulta.com thus far! Or at least that’s where I’ve seen them!

I’m a bit sad these are matte as I’d love a slick, glossy lip pencil for Summer. These arrive in a twist up barrel with a precise point that makes lining and filling easy (and a built-in sharpener). They promise an eight hour matte finish with the pigment of a lipstick. Apparently the color is transfer-proof!

Each pencil is 0.04 oz in size, $9.49 each, and available in 12 shades.

Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon Lipstick are available now.

Will you be purchasing a few to try out?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I wonder if these will be similar to their color blur lip pencils from a few years ago. I LOVED the formula on those, but sadly can’t find them anymore!

    • Flaky

I loved those too! I still have a few colors & get complements every time I wear one. I look forward to trying these

Finally some new drugstore items! I have been in BBB and have yet to see any new makeup displays since before Christmas. I will definitely puck up a few of these as they look like they can withstand heat and travel well. Reminds me of an older product released by L’Oréal years back as a limited edition item they were called Le Matte Crayons my favorite color was Matter of Fact. I think they had a glossy or brighter line too because I remember a Barbie pink I wanted but could not pull off. These go directly in my cart!

    • Isabella Muse

Me either. It’s dribs and drabs of stuff but no full collections with several items. Sort of sucks and makes drugstore runs a little less fun! I remember those, I even reviewed them! They do kind of give me that vibe! And yup! They had two versions matte and glossy!

I am so NOT ordering drugstore stuff online. Will not pay shipping for what should be readily available in every drugstore on the planet – it’s a stupid marketing move on their part, I think. Not to mention they’re jacking up the prices to the point where I now think twice about buying something. And it’s made me cut way back on my impulse purchases, which is good for me; bad for them. they’ve gotten just as greedy as everyone else, and I think it’s going to affect their bottom line, and not in a good way. Drugstore makeup is (or should be) just that – available in the drugstore. Wet N Wild is NOT a brand worth paying shipping for, and they need to face up to that.

Ok, cranky old lady rant done for the day. 🙂

It’s actually good for them not so good for us. I imagine it cuts their share costs down! They get the profit directly so it works out great for them but again, not so great for us. It’s true! My impulse purchases are way down! It actually saves me a ton of $$ lol! WetnWild does have a threshold free shipping but sometimes when I just want one item it’s a pain to buy others just for the free shipping :-/

In Pittsburgh, we used to have a store called Phar-Mor and it was drugstore beauty paradise. Long gone…

I’d also love to see a creamy or glossy version of this. I have one of Bite Beauty’s and it works nicely as a liner, so maybe I’ll get one.

    • Isabella Muse

I have to go google that ;-D I hope so too! as I’m more a glossy or cream girl versus a matte one!

where are the nudes and peaches? None of these colors appeal to me, I’ve been noticing that more and more with the newer collections. I need dusty peaches and peachy nudes!

  • Carol G

Yeah! More matte lip products! (yes, I’m being sarcastic)…

  • Anne

I found a small display of these in the dreaded Wal-mart and picked up two nudish colors. I really like them! They have a thin, pointed tip that can be sharpened to use for outlining and the side can be used for filling in. The colors I have are very saturated and last about as long as a long-wearing liquid lipstick. They are demi-matte but really comfortable to wear. I’m looking to get some more shades.

    • Isabella Muse

demi-matte I can get on board with. The finish works for me better than a full-on matte!

  • MissMercurial

*gasp* two of my favorite things in one?! I love how bulletproof the Superstay ink formula is, and I love crayon format color cosmetics (except maybe blush and foundation) so I’m stoked to see how these perform. But I rarely ever buy anything without reading a review first so I’ll just have to sit on my hands haha.

  • TropicalChrome

I saw all the colors and smiled, because there are at least half a dozen shades that look really interesting to me.

Then I read they’re only available online. The smile faded, but I can be patient and wait for items to show up locally. I’m just not happy about it.

Then I read they’re matte. Smile turned upside down. You could almost hear the squealing of the brakes as my “oh yes please” turned into a “nope nope nope”.

Oh well. On to the next.

  • Fluffatu

Looking at these in just your photos I wonder if they are like the Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon. I really hope so, as I love their texture- matte without being harsh or drying.

Hey, Muse, if anyone shops online at Rite-Aid, they’re on sale right now for buy 1, get 50% off the second. There’s also a SAVE20 promo for 20% off your order, and shipping is free with a $34.99 purchase ($5.99 if you don’t spend that much).

Hope that helps anyone who wants these at a better price, and thank you for the review!

    • Isabella Muse

wow thanks Mary 😀 <3! That's brilliant! Oh this isn't a review! just a post about them! I haven't tried them yet 🙂 Anything I review is labeled as a "review" 🙂

      • Mary

My apologies, Muse — I should have said “preview,” but I love your reviews, too. I know you’re a very busy woman, but please keep them coming!

        • Isabella Muse

oh don’t apologize! 🙂 <3! Absolutely my dear xoxoxoxo!

  • Mary

I had not heard and buzz or ads about these, but I just happened to see these at Target today and I bought two. My local Target has remodeled their makeup and skincare section to look more like Sephora and these were just in a little box on a display table. The actual Maybelline section didn’t have them. It’s like they’re trying really hard not to sell these. I like them, but I’d also prefer a non matte option. I think it’s more flattering on me.

    • Isabella Muse

      I haven’t tried them yet but I’m like you I’d like a non-matte version! 😀

  • Thelio

Sorry to say but in these pics all the colors looked almost the same on you, even th he darkest one-Sable.

hi! I’m not wearing any of these shades. It’s just a promo picture of the pencils. Which photos are you referencing? Because I’m not sure how they’d look the same on me when there are no photos posted of me wearing them.
