YSL Mascara & Primer Duo Might Be The Trick for My Wimpy Lashes

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

I’m thinking of picking up the new YSL Mascara & Primer Duo ($39.50) because my once full lashes are now sort of whimpy. I swear I blame my eye lash curler for tripping them right out. Maybe I need to start using a lash enhancer versus worrying about mascara. I never thought I’d see a day where my lashes were sort of short and fine. I’ve decided I’m going to start with some sort of lash primer first.

This new Nordstrom exclusive set includes Yves Saint Laurent’s The Curler Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils to curl and lengthening lashes as well as Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Flash Primer to prep lashes for mascara giving them a longer, fuller look!

Both the primer and mascara are full-size!

You can snag the YSL Mascara & Primer Duo now at Nordstrom!

I’m hopeful it’ll add a bit of fullness and length to my little bitty lashes!

What are you tricks for longer, fuller lashes?

I started using Rapidlash Eyelash Enhancing Serum about 3 yrs ago. Before then, my eyelashes were so short, they barely peeked out from between my eyelash curler. Within 2 mos, they grew so long & curled up naturally, that I had to retire my eyelash curler. My eyelashes did not become thicker, just longer. I have to put something like a plastic spoon over my upper lids when applying mascara cos my lashes are so curled up, they touch the skin.
When I got the results I was satisfied with, I only applied Rapidlash every other day for maintenance.

Apply nightly before you go to bed, so the serum will spread onto the lower lashes too. My lower lashes were pretty much non existent, but not anymore 😀
IMO, this stuff is cost effective, cos you only have to apply it on the upper lashes & when I used it every night, it lasted at least 3-4 mos. The best non sale price at a trusted store is $27.99 at Target.com.
Doesn’t work for everyone, but you might get lucky like me!

It’s best if you do it nightly. I also use rapidlash; didn’t have *quite* the astounding sounding results that Violet had, but my lashes did get longer and blacker. (No self curling lashes here, they are stick straight due to my eye hoods resting on them but I just curl them). Other lash serums are quite a bit more expensive, so if you’re considering this I would encourage you to try rapidlash (with your next Ulta 20% off or if you get a higher % coupon at CVS. CVS has it behind the counter).

I sleep on my stomach most nights, is that a problem with this? I’m worried about getting it in my eye or something!

          • Nikole

Not at all. Just brush it on your upper (only) lashline, let set a few minutes before applying any other night eye products. 🙂

Hi, Missy Muse! I did reply to you on the same day you answered me, but for some reason, it refused to send it. Kept telling me that I already sent the message. This happens pretty frequently on your site. Maybe it’s due to using Safari as my browser? I noticed that everything’s glitchier on most sites since I stopped using my pc & just rely on my iPad. Sephora’s the worst, so I do my shopping on the app.

Anyway, Nikole is right, Apply nightly before you go to bed, so the serum will spread onto the lower lashes too. My lower lashes were pretty much non existent, but not anymore 😀
Rapidlash is safe if it gets in your eyes. The only side effect (rare) is that if you have hazel or green eyes, it may turn them dark brown. I have hazel eyes & they never changed color. I did have a period of my upper & lower lids reddening, but no irritation.
Now, my lashes didn’t become fake eyelashes long, but the curl bumped up against my lid, cos I also have hooded eyes. The curling is a complete surprise to me, cos I never saw anyone mention this when I was looking at reviews. My eyelashes have always been straight too.

IMO, this stuff is cost effective, cos you only have to apply it on the upper lashes & when I used it every night, it lasted at least 3-4 mos. The best non sale price at a trusted store is $27.99 at Target.com. I’ve seen it in Ulta’s sales a few times & the sale price is about the the same as Target’s.

Hi Muse! I like brushing castor oil on my lashes at night. Great treatment for eyelash follicles.

Have you tried Heroine Make super waterproof mascara? It’s a Japanese mascara, and it’s the only one that gives my sad Asian lashes any sort of length and holds a curl for me. It is a pain to get off (though my Banila Co cleansing balm seems to get like 99% of it off), but worth it since it doesn’t smudge during the day (and even through a work out).

  • Veera

I started to avoid eyelash curler and waterproof mascara. Curler really was snapping my lashes Off, and watwrproof mascara was drying my lashes, if that is possible? 😀
Now im using snapscara on workdays and watwrproof mascara on special occasions. It takes time to get used to it, but now I just LOVE more natural look!

      And I forgot…
I also use castor oil and I eat biotin+ collagen supplement!
My lashes are now longer and stronger than in a long time…

For some reason, the comments got re-sent into the emails. But that’s ok because I get to reply to your post.

Yes, those glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, collagen supplements have beneficial side effects. I take them for a shoulder injury but my skin has gone back to my early twenties, and my lashes are long and plentiful again.

I even think my vision has improved. Would make sense as the fluid in the eye is hyaluronic acid.

Girl, try taking some biotin! I bought a huge jar of the Nature’s Bounty biotin gummies at Walmart and my sister and I have both noticed improvement with our lashes 🙂
