5 stars out of 5

Colourpop My Sun and Stars Pressed Powder Blush ($7) is a fairly new blush shade that launched with one of Kathleen Lights’ collaborations (I believe it was the Horoscope Collection she did with Colourpop).

I picked this up because it looked like a really pretty NARS Orgasm-like shade and we all know how I lust and pant over NARS Orgasm anything. But most important there’s that Dany and Khal reference.

The most annoying thing about Colourpop My Sun and Stars Blush or any Colourpop blush is the fact they sell them without a compact. You see, I’m anal. I keep the packaging for everything. I don’t depot anything. If this makes me a hoarder so bet it! My skin literally crawls when I see people de-potting things and putting them in Z-Palettes. If that’s your thing you won’t be bothered by the fact that Colourpop sells all these blushes without a compact. If you’re a weirdo like me and need a case they’ll sell it to you for an extra $2 bucks which makes the blush a total of $9. The blush is 0.21 oz in size so really $9 for the case and all isn’t too bad a deal.

Colourpop describes the shade as a vibrant yellow pink with a golden sheen. People, I don’t even know WTH a yellow pink would look like but if this is it I now officially love yellow pinks! As for my take on it, I’d call it a golden pink that’s very reminiscent of NARS Orgasm but not a complete dupe but pretty darn close. It has a beautiful golden shimmer that didn’t cling to my drier areas as the formula was very finely milled, soft, and silky. It gives cheeks a luminous peachy glow that looked so pretty! It’s fairly pigmented right out of the gate so start slow and build as it is pretty pigmented. It wears well for a solid seven hours and shows minor fading at hour eight but never lost the beautiful golden glow!

All in all, a beautiful shade that I hope isn’t limited edition as it’s well worth picking up a backup of! At this price why not?

Where to buy

Colourpop

Colourpop My Sun and Stars Blush is a pretty golden pink that resembles NARS Orgasm. It’s $7 for a 0.21 oz pan and $2 for a compact should you want one to keep it in. I loved this shade as I really love luminous golden peachy pinks and this color brings that gorgeous shade to my cheeks perfectly. It’s quite pigmented, blends easily, and wears well for a good eight hours without fading or losing its glow. The formula was silky and soft without being too powdery!

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Gorgeous shade that resembles NARS Orgasm.
  • Beautifully textured!
  • Long wearing!

Cons

  • Doesn’t come with a compact (sold separately).

Who

Colourpop My Sun and Stars Blush should be appealing for those that like NARS Orgasm-like shades or those wanting a budget friendly version of NARS Orgasm.

I bought this one and the matte mauve one from the same collection. It was a 40% off flash sale, so I didn’t mind buying the cases too. And I had no idea they’d be high end magnetic cases! They’re my first experience with Colourpop blushes, and I’m really enjoying them.

I don’t depot anything either. I love the packaging products come in plus I don’t have the patience or time for it. This blush does look like Nars Orgasm.

I keep all my boxes too. I feel like they store better. I hate when something comes in a kit and therefore, you can’t really store it in its box because the box is way bulkier than the actual palette.

    • Isabella Muse

Me too! Also, I sort of buy things for packaging too! Why would I depot it?

I watched the Kathleen Lights video where she introduced this and I was like, whatever. But now that I see it here, I NEED IT. (As an aside, after all this time I bought the Makeup Geek x Kathleen Lights highlighter palette and it is so pretty and versitile. It was on sale, which is why I spulrged and it was totally worth it.)

I own the blush construct( Makeup my Shayla shade). It did come with the compact, for 8.00, bur I got it on sale. Its a tad too dark, but I can make it work. My favorite blush of all time is Cargos swimmable blush in Bali. I finished one last year and have a backup that I haven’t opened yet. It took me 2 years to finish one. It lasts all day plus on my dry skin. Its amazing.

This one didn’t sadly had to add it in! But it’s ok ;D it’s still a nice size blush for the price! I don’t think I have bali have to look that one up!

    • Agona

I think it’s awesome that you finished a blush. I always wondered how long that would take.

I might give this a go. I finally tried colourpop for the first time recently, and can’t wait to make another order! I’m really digging them so far.
