About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. It was mostly about skincare for me this time! Did a restock on some staples (Belif cleansing oil & foaming gel for my dual cleanse, and Tatcha Violet C serum which is my skin’s hero product). Tried out some new stuff… a Murad bi-phase peel and that new glamglow eye cream. And then I treated myself to some Armani Luminous Silk. I’m VERY late to the party on that foundation but I had a sample of it last week and fell in love. I was torn between that and the new Pat McGrath but I figured I had at least sampled the Armani and knew what to expect. I might take a risk on Pat in the November sale. Reviews have been hit and miss on that one and I hate that no locations near me have it in store. It’s a lot of money to spend without sampling.

Armani LS is amazing good choice! Most of my order is skincare too this time around! I wanted to try some of the newer eye creams! Tatcha Violet C is that good? I never tried it!

      • Vee

My skin REALLY likes Vitamin C in general but the Tatcha is for sure the best I have used. The consistency is like water. It sinks in fast, absorbs immediately, no stickiness at all ever, and doesn’t interfere with any of my other skincare or makeup. No funky smells. The directions say to use it at night, but I use it in the morning. It’s completely evened out my texture, gotten rid of discoloration. If not for mild rosacea I don’t think I’d wear foundation at all and I give 100% credit to the Tatcha for that. Ironically it’s the only Tatcha product I’ve had success with.

        • Isabella Muse

wow sounds promising! I don’t have too much success with Vit C products or maybe I’m just not seeing the visible results for myself! Sounds promising and I love the way the texture sounds (and the smell because man Vit C smells awful at times haha)!

Only going to get Hermès Voyage. yeah, I want the Waterbank eye gel, but probably should make a dent in the Volition and the Algenist first. Apply that principle to virtually every item I want. Esp. KB. It will all be there in a couple of months. I figure ‘lish and Dermstore have already siphoned my wallet. And Ulta has a one day today with 10x points. My AM: ordering a replacement microwave, with the Ultacard, of course. Trying to be practical.

Girl I so wanted the Violet Voss Coral palette and that Kevyn Aucoin foundation balm and the Tom Ford perfume so I am looking forward to your reviews. Because I have been so crazy with makeup lately I kept my list pretty short and ordered The Inkey List Water and Oil cleanser, Tatcha Silk Peony eye cream, Smashbox Cover Shot in Desert, Olaplex No.7 Bonding oil, Floral Street Discovery set, and a new lid slick from Inc.redible. I also did some damage at Ulta. I wanted so much more but my beauty debt is out of this world right now. Lol. Just an FYI I have the FAB Retinol eye cream as well as the Biossance Marine Algae one and they are both great! P.S. I have had all three Pat McGrath products (foundation, primer and powder) for about a week now and my review is mixed. Wondering what your take is, if you ended up purchasing. I bet on your pore free skin it is nice. 🙂

  • Karen Laux

I can’t wait to hear your review of the Kevin Aucoin foundation balm! It looks so good!

  • Christina

    I got the following:
    Natasha Denona Lila palette
    Touch In Sol Foiled eyeshadows
    Ciate Marble eyeshadows
    Guerlain’s new foundation
    Jack Black lip balm
Jack Black cleanser (for my husband)
A couple of Clinique items for a friend

I really wasn’t planning on buying anything other than the foundation and maybe a concealer, but I figured why not? A little eyeshadow here and there doesn’t hurt. I can’t remember the last time I bought makeup items to play with, as I’ve been a little uninspired and overwhelmed with all the choices lately. LOL.

P.S. Let’s hope my comment goes through. I noticed none of my comments from a month back made it through. Sadness. You probably feel like I’ve abandoned you. Haha!

    • Isabella Muse

hey miss! thanks for the heads up didn’t see the guerlain! just hauled it ;-D good hauling! I have too! I think that’s why most of my stuff was skincare ;-D It’s not you, it’s me! I’m soooooooo behind on comments! I’m sorry <3!

  • Colleenie

I love all your skincare picks! I got: Sephora cleansing water, Philosophy Purity Cleansing water (for my mom), Floral Street fragrance discover kit, Skylar Perfume Palette (I’m on a major fragrance kit), Juliette Has A Gun travel spray in Vanilla Vibes (for my mom—I just bought this recently and love it! She liked mine so much that she wanted one for herself. It’s very beachy, with just a hint of vanilla.), Sephora organic cotton pads (recently bought these and love them—even better than the Shiseido I usually buy), Bite Beauty agave nighttime lip therapy (repurchase—love it!), and three of the Moroccanoil mini Color Depositing Conditioners (bordeaux, champagne, and cocoa)—I’m really looking forward to trying these as I am so chicken about coloring my hair.

I’m trying to avoid buying anything else, though I might have to browse Tatcha just to be sure I’m ok not trying anything there. Really trying to avoid buying color cosmetics as I have so much already and need to use my stash.

    • Isabella Muse

Thanks! Great haul by the way! Those two fragrance discovery sets are lovely ;-D

Can this coupon code be used more than once during the sale? I want to buy the Fenty concealer, but I need to be color matched in the store for that. I also want the Skin fix Barrier Lipid Boost 360 Eye Cream, but that’s only available online. It would be great to be able to use once in store and once online. By the way, do you have any comments on these two products?
    Thank you so much!

    • Isabella Muse

Yes as many times as you want! I haven’t tried either yet I’m sorry!

    • Vee

I haven’t used the eye cream, but I bought a couple of other products from the Barrier Lipid Boost line (the lotion and some kind of serum cream) and to be totally honest I don’t feel like they’re worth the price. It’s basically CeraVe. I can’t really tell any difference between my skinfix products and CeraVe. I’m pretty sure CeraVe makes an eye cream (or at least they used to) and I feel like that will be very comparable at a much lower price.

  • Wendy Sue

I can’t wait to see what you think of the Kevin A Foundation Balm!

  • Andrea

    Urban Decay Stay Naked foundation
    Urban Decay Stay Naked concealer
Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder duo
    Dermalogica age bright serum
    Dermalogica age bright spot fader
Foreo Play Plus (my clarisonic mia2 is about to die and foreo announced a new luna mini 3 so I’m trying this first)

need to restock on UD All Nighter spray and I’m considering splurging on Fenty eye primer because I’ve liked the mini size I have.

    • Isabella Muse

please tell me all about Dermalogica! I think I need these things ;-D Great haul!

      • Andrea

They should be here tomorrow and I have some pesky post-acne marks to test them on 😉
You’d think I was a teenager with this acne

        • Isabella Muse

I never breakout but as I got older I notice I get a few whiteheads on my chin from time to time that drive me nuts! I want to sit and squeeze them but I am scared I’ll end up with either a dark mark or scarring :-/

          • Andrea

ugh just bought KVD Brow Struck powder too because it’s on sale for $10.50 + 20% off
I saw there’s also a UD set with all-nighter spray and a complexion sponge that is only $3 more than the setting spray alone so I got that too…… just take all my money sephora!!!

  • Kelly

Very nice haul! I would love to know your thoughts on the Biossance eye cream! I am eyeing the Viseart palettes, especially since a few are already on sale. Super bummed the two purple ones I really want are sold out now though

    • Isabella Muse

I’m sure they’ll restock and have another sale in a few months 😀 will def let you know about the eye cream!
