You Don’t Have to Be a Student To Enjoy Back To School Beauty
Confession. I like long, quiet strolls through the school supply aisles on early Saturday mornings. Like today, at the crack of dawn aka stupid o’clock, I was at Walmart and leisurely strolled through school supply aisles randomly tossing pens and cute notepads into my cart that I didn’t need but totally wanted. I think in my next life I want to be a journaler slash elaborate planner keeper slash scrapbooker. I feel like being all these things would give me a perfect excuse to buy all the cute stickers, markers, and stationary. Not to mention I’d get one of those super shelves that folds open to keep it all in. Yeah, it’s a plan! My next life I’m going to be some sort of crafter.
This is the calm before the storm. Right now you can really enjoy the organization of all the school supplies. The different colored notepads together all organized by color and sitting in neat piles. The boxes of crayons hanging safely from hooks on the wall. The pens all organized by brand in alphabetical order! If you live in New York and love school supplies I urge you to get to a store to enjoy them this week because next week the storm hits and everything will be chaos as parents make a mad scramble to get their kids everything they need for school!
All that paper and all those pens are exciting but even more exciting are all the Back to School Beauty picks. I teamed up with Walmart a few times this past Summer to promote their Here for Every Beauty campaign that celebrates the over 327 different million faces that makeup America. There aim is to offer a assortment of makeup, skincare, and beauty available to all races, all sexes, shapes, sizes, and colors. There makeup and beauty section is the biggest its every been with many new options available from a variety of brands (even higher end ones that are available via walmart.com! Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, these brands are now available on Walmart’s website!). I’m glad Walmart is bringing attention to diversity in beauty which is what made me team up with them again for some Back to School Beauty picks (this is a paid sponsorship but all the items I selected to feature are my own choices and any opinions I have on them are also my own).
Let’s take a look because you really don’t have to be a student to enjoy these back to school beauty picks!
Ok, so, for years I was a high-end beauty girl. I betcha if you’ve been reading my blog which has been around 10 plus years you likely recall that I only ever reviewed Japanese makeup or higher-end beauty brands like Dior, Givenchy, etc…!
In my personal opinion, when I started this blog drugstore makeup and beauty wasn’t exactly what it is today. I think the drugstore makeup world has gone through some dramatic changes! All for the better of course! I think some drugstore brands can take on any mid-range brand and win. The formulas are better, the textures of certain products like eyeshadow has improved dramatically, drugstore makeup on a whole is so much better than it was over ten years ago.
Some items that have blown me away in the makeup world lately are from drugstore brands and cost under $10. I mean, perfect example, E.L.F. 16HR Camo Concealer is $5 bucks and holy cow is this stuff pigmented AF. The formula didn’t blow me away. My aging eyes simply can’t pull this off. It sets too quickly for me and it creases badly. But if I was 20 years younger and without a lot of cash I’d say this comes close to the coverage that Shape Tape does. If you have younger, more oily eyes than I do without finer lines this might be a nice pick up. The price is crazy cheap!
Speaking of concealers please do try the new Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Long Lasting Under-Eye Concealer! I reviewed this a few weeks ago and since purchasing it I’ve worn it daily. Has anyone tried it? It has great coverage and although matte it blends quite nicely and brightens up the entire eye area. Plus, it’s only ten bucks!
If you’re looking for some new lipglosses or lipsticks to try I got a few recs here for ya! First off Revlon’s new Ultra UD Vinyl Lip Polish is pretty awesome. Thank god it’s not matte. This gloss or as I call it liquid lip color is pigmented, glossy, and it wears quite long!
I know, I know I just said “Thankfully not matte” yet here I am recommending the new Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayons! Guess what?! These aren’t drying at all! Pigmented, lightly creamy, plus super portable and cheap as heck! Grab a shade or three! You won’t regret it.
If lipgloss and lipstick isn’t your thing and you just desire a really full set of lashes on the cheap this Fall might I recommend picking up some L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara? I purchased this when it originally launched and to this day I still use it. That’s say something because freaking drugstore mascaras almost always disappoint me. I love how much fuller my lashes look using this. It’s doesn’t really give me dramatic lengthen but it does provide incredible volume which my lashes need! It’s so darn affordable to at $9.97!
With all this talk about makeup we probably should have a good option to remove it at the end of the day. Something quick maybe? If you’re tired at the end of the night and your mother’s warning about not wearing your makeup to sleep is ringing in your ears I quick swipe or two with a cotton pad saturated with Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water will get all that makeup off in a hurry so you can pop into bed for the night!
I know you’re tried but that quick clean up with Garnier’s micellar water leaves you plenty of time to slap on a Simple Water Boost Sheet Mask Hydrating to hydrate skin and leave it feeling moist and happy again!
And if you’re a shower before bed type of person take some of Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Shampoo and Conditioner into the shower with you! It’s my favorite. Slightly sweet, all rosy, it makes my hair smell amazing!
I hope you enjoyed these Back to School Beauty Picks! There all under $10 bucks and available at Walmart. You can snag them while you’re shopping for that new planner you don’t need and that 100 pack of colored Ink Gel Pens, and oh yeah, that 500 shade pack of Crayolas (because you don’t color but they remind you of why you love eyeshadow so much! Seriously, crayons were the gateway drug into the eyeshadow palettes weren’t they!?
Happy Back to School Beauty my friends 🙂
