Hourglass Ghost Ambient Lighting Edit for Holiday 2019

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

It’s that time of the year! The time of the year when the Hourglass Cosmetics released the new Ambient Lighting Edit. This year, we get the Hourglass Ghost Ambient Lighting Edit which includes shades that are exclusive to this palette. That alone might make it tempting because let’s be honest for a second here. We look at the Ambient Lighting Edit Palette and we really want it but the thing that might hold us off from purchasing it would be the fact we likely already own shades in it. I’m happy this particularly palette contains three new, exclusive shades.

Because at $80 this palette isn’t cheap and no one wants to duplicate shades they already own!

Shades:

  • Dim Light
  • Diffused Light
  • Iridescent Strobe Light
  • Eternal Bronze Light
  • Iridescent Rose

I have a love hate relationship with Ambient Lighting Blushes. They just aren’t glow-y enough for me. I do love Ambient Lighting Powder though! How do you feel about the blushes? It’s rather sad because I always crave the damn Edit Palette every single Holiday season! It’s so very tempting!

I’ll have to sleep on this one but if you can’t wait the Hourglass Ghost Ambient Lighting Edit for Holiday 2019 is available now!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I thought ‘released another non-value palette of the same old, same old, that makes even fans rant.’ People expect to have some sort of bargain at a Christmas, and the HGs have at times been more bucks per ounce. Really? I like Mood in both, and can use Dim in summer. (Dim Sum. Excuse me, I had to.). I never understood the hoopla about these at all. Again, different strokes….

I actually love the blushes! They are one of my favorites, but I’ve never been tempted by these palettes. I think it’s the price:)

What do you think of the “ghost blush” formula? I see there is a blush quad (ambient lighting blush quad – Ghost) on the Hourglass site that is really pretty, but it is blush blended with strobe highlighter. I am 50 and work in a professional office, so sparkle is out for me. If this is a satiny luminosity, ok, but if it is too frosty, its a no. Thanks!

I haven’t tried it sadly. I only have the old Ambient lighting blushes and those are not sparkly but more of satiny!

Thanks. The ambient lighting blushes are more than glow enough for my skin, so when they start talking about the “strobe” blushes being a blend of highlighter and pigment, that makes me nervous. Guess I will have to wait to see one in store before making a decision.

I’m always really wary of strobe anything because I feel like it comes across frosty and clings to my skin in a rather gross way :-/ If I do try them I’ll be sure to swatch/share thoughts! Did you see the Melt Cosmetics Highlighter I recently featured? It’s a really pretty glow! If you apply a sheer application it’s quite gorgeous!

I just ordered this palette this morning since it released at Sephora today. I’m not usually drawn to these holiday palettes but this one drew me in because it includes my faves: Dim Light & Diffused Light. The other 4 products in this palette are new to me. I also like that it only has one bronzer because I don’t use bronzer much. And I just finished a mini of an Hourglass blush and loved it so I’m excited to have two new options! Also, this year’s blush shades don’t look as dark as previous years so they’ll work well on my super pale skin. Overall, I’m really excited I got to order it this year. Looking forward to playing with it!
