Kat Von D Holiday 2019 Featuring Lolita Por Vida Eyeshadow Palette

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Kat Von D Holiday 2019 launched today with a new Kat Von D Lolita Por Vida Eyeshadow Palette. Kat Von D’s brand seems like it hasn’t really been doing so great lately for obvious reasons. Everything she released over the last few months has gone on sale with a really short span of time. I’m actually really surprised she’s still at Sephora not to mention creating a Holiday Collection. I think she’s one of the longest standing brands that has been at Sephora. I mean we’ve seen companies literally tank after launching at Sephora (Remember Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics?). Kat Von D is a house brand of sorts for Sephora so that might mean why it’s still so readily available but it can’t be a top money maker considering the many Kat Von D controversies.

But here we are and Kat Von D Holiday 2019 is upon us. If the brand still interests you the Holiday Collection lays ahead!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I wonder if KVD had a publicist who would advise her against sharing too much of her personal life on social media?

  • Mary Brenner

Sorry KVD is an instant pass for me. She blew it with me a long time ago over her stance on not vaccinating her kid. She will never see a dime from me

    • Sue

Not only will I never buy her stuff, I wouldn’t use it if someone paid me. The not-so-subtle Nazi and antii-Semitic stuff fools no one. Horrid.

I am planning to buy Kat von D’s makeup now cause great vegan/cruelty free option for people with sensitive skin. As a person with autism, as well as mother of child with autism, I am willing to give her brand another chance. Only cause she did say in video she is not anti vax and basically misspoke last year. I am willing to forgive and try the new sets. Thank you <3

    • MDW

Ya, I think some SJWs got a little too invasive into KVD’s life and KVD understandably didn’t have her mental boundaries prepared, this being her first child and all. So she lashed out, which is exactly what the drama mongers wanted.

It’s a bit of an adrenaline surge when one can access a celebrity, but it’s only a business transaction for the celebrity.

Kinda cute, but hardly revolutionary or the least daring. Pretty dupable. Still around? Well, as you mentioned, she’s Kendo. She seemed ok, until she was outed. I have not read of any efforts to redeem herself, learn, or change her very unacceptable attitude or beliefs. We get enough of that entitled narcissism daily from our fearless leader. I’m not deep sixing any KVD, but not acquiring any more, either. My last was MetalMatte, a pretty solid palette. There is enough objectionable behavior around in the beauty community that she just seems to be the leader of a very large pack. If you decide to get and review this, you should not get any flak for doing your (second) job.

    • MDW

Ya, I was thinking KVD is still around in Sephora because of parent company Kendo’s former relationship with Sephora. Connections are still there.

I really like the colors of this palette, but I hate that all of the pans aren’t the same size lol.

  • OliveUnicorn

Her palette kind of reminds of the Huda new Nudes with a few other shades thrown in . Its not bad and it definitely interests me more than say her Fetish or Vegan palette which I swatched last time I was at Sephora , and they were both kind of patchy . Interesting she went with a lot of spanish names for the shades . Is she trying to get the latina demographic? I’m saying this as someone who is hispanic too

  • Cil

It is a beautiful wearable palette for our every day looks. However, I must say that Lolita is for KVD what Orgasm is for Nars. Can these two brands stop?

One year I purchased a liquid lipstick holiday set and IIRC, it was 49.00. This one is 16.00. I wonder if they are lowering the prices or maybe I’m imagining it.

  • genevieve

The palette looks quite lovely, but I hope the glitter shades don’t contain that plastic glitter that is so non eye safe.
I think the shade selection is spot on for spring/summer.
As for Kat Von D herself, I think she has learnt a big, big lesson about putting her foot into her mouth (as the saying goes) and hopefully has had a rethink about her stance on vaccinations.

  • Paige

I’m no fan of KvD because of her antisemitic behaviors and associations, which wasn’t got all the attention, but it’s a significant problem for me, and not something I can separate from her/her brand. I think most people got stuck on her antivaxx stance in part because of the stance itself and in part because she was really unapologetic and told people in profane terms that she didn’t care, and only apologized after the backlash started. Judging by the limited nature of this holiday collection, where it’s not taking any real chances and they’re repackaging a lot of old products and shades, and giving away a product that was once highly desirable and seen as truly innovative (the little duochrome-ish palette), I can’t help but wonder if all of her questionable behaviors have irreparably impacted her brand. This collection doesn’t push boundaries in colors or formulas, which used to be the heart of the brand, and I’m thinking that anyone who wants this should wait, because it’s going to go on sale as a thing that isn’t a highly desirable, standout, must-have object of desire.
