My Beauty and Makeup Staples To Purchase During the Sephora Sale

The Sephora Holiday Bonus Event starts today for Rouge Members. Get 20% Off your order using code HOLIDAYSAVE at sephora.com! I tend to stock up on a few staples when the sale roles around. If you don’t have a lot of wish list items now might be a good time to grab some more of your favorite mascara or eye makeup remover as these are items you use daily and likely run out of fast.

I get asked a lot what are your favorite products? What are items on your holy grail list? I have many! But there are quite a few products I come back to again and again because I’ve gotten great results from them.

Here are a few that I’ll likely stock up on during the Sephora Holiday Bonus Event.

Let’s start with some skincare!

I have many, many different skincare products I use on the daily. Many are Korean brands I love and favor above all else but some are easy enough to score at Sephora. This is a list of my favorites.

My top two eye creams that I love because they are highly moisturizing are Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream and Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue Cream. These are two eye creams I would not want to be without.

Another very important eye treatment in my life is Volition Beauty Helix AM/PM Eye Gel. I’ve raved this several times in the past. It’s a product I use in the AM (I don’t like it in the evenings) because it works so great at filling my liners and just making my undereye area very smooth. It also really does a great job keeping my concealer look awesome and crease-free. It’s a staple I use every day!

Lately, the Inkey List has become an important part of my routine! My favorite products from the line are:

As you know I’m not one to cleanse my skin with micellar water only but I do use It Cosmetics Miracle Water Micellar Cleanser every night after I cleanse my face. It removes traces of anything my cleanser left behind and I can almost swear that this has eased my dullness so damn much since I started using it a year or two ago!

Speaking of removing my makeup…! My favorite cleansing balm is Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm which is now available in a super size for a limited time (6.8 oz) and they have it in a Very Cherry version too! This is a fantastic cleansing balm with a soft, sorbet-like texture that removes makeup super easily!

During the Sephora sale, it’s always a good idea to stock up on Lancôme Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover in the larger 6.7 oz size. There is nothing that removes my eye makeup as well as this. Yes, there are drugstore dupes around but Lancome’s formula is still tried and true, ride or die for me.

Moving on to prepping my face for makeup…!

Two of my favorite ways to prime are either with Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer or when the cold hits Clarins Flash Balm (I’m also a massive J One fan but they are no longer available at Sephora). Too Faced’s formula is odd because it is a silicone primer but it’s a hydrating one that creates a really smooth surface for makeup to adhere to. It doesn’t feel like a silicone primer, it doesn’t make me itch the way one normally would, and it applies and absorbs easily. Flash Balm is like my best kept secret. I feel like no one know about it. It’s a soft, hydrating cream that can be used as a moisturizer or a primer. In the Winter when the cold sets in this is my life saver for smooth, flawless foundation that isn’t clumping up on drier areas of my face!

If you’re wondering what my favorite foundations are…I have many! BB Creams are my main source of coverage but I have a few foundations I love. Two that I stock up from Sephora are Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and Tarte Clay Stick Foundation! It’s one of my biggest fears that Tarte will discointune Clay Sticks one day soon. It’s a matte foundation stick but it works fantastic for me and oddly enough, it’s the foundation I reach for about 95% of the time in the morning! As for Too Faced Born this Way, yes, it’s as good as everyone goes on and on about especially for us drier skin girls. Great coverage, light, creamy, very breathable. It’s a keeper.

Betcha you’re wonder about concealers? I have a lot of those I love. Tarte’s Shape Tape being my biggest love but lately it’s been a smidge drying on me. Two tried and trues for me are It Cosmetics Bye Bye Concealer which has always treated me very, very well thanks to the awesome pigment, super creamy texture, and excellent wear. It’s not everyone’s favorite since the texture is fairly thick and emollient but I’ve mastered the application and most days it’s my concealer of choice!

Another concealer I actually love even though it runs sheerer is is the delightful YSL All Hours Concealer. If they added a touch more pigment to this I’d be in heaven (most people will likely be fine with the coverage it provides! I’m use used to wearing super pigmented concealer under my eyes). This has a serum-like texture and blends like a dreammmmmmmmmmm! Such a delight for drier eyes!

Let’s skip ahead to makeup brushes!

I have one makeup brush that I love, use daily, and will every always keep in my stash. A very, very beautiful friend of mine used to work PR for Bobbi Brown and about 10 plus years ago she sent me a Holiday Gift Set that had a Bobbi Brown Blush Brush inside of it. Since that day I have loved the brush to death. I have four now (one of which she recently re-gifted me) and one of those four is the same exact one she gifted me all those many years ago! It’s still perfect. It’s been through many, many uses and washings and the bristles are still gorgeous, full, and soft. I love it because it has a domed head and it’s sort of flat so I can tap blush on my cheeks gently. It’s expensive at $60 but that extra 20% Off def helps!

And now for the most important topic of all! Staple color cosmetics!

I have so many holy grails and favorites I’ll be here all day listing them 🙂 But I hope you enjoyed the few I did share in this post and I hope you’ll try one or two of them out for yourself and maybe they’ll be a holy grail for you!

Let me know what sort of staples you’re stocking up on today

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I mainly got skincare since I am still working through my makeup stash.
    I got:
-new It Bye Bye Pores Toner, which I am super excited for since I need mattifying
-the Laniege Kiss Me at Midnight Lip mask set- I’ve already gone through two full sizes of this lip mask. Each one lasts me a good 6 months, used every single night! I love it and I’m excited for two new flavors.
-Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Serum- a skincare staple of mine I needed to replenish.
-Drunk Elephant Shelf Control Night Kit- more staples of mine to replenish.
-tarte undereye patches x2- i really like these and i reuse one pair up to 4 times since i’m cheap, so these will last.
-Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in “Heartless”- ok i snuck one makeup in. it was half off plus 20% off and I needed to spend three more dollars to hit rouge next year lol.

I’m eyeing the tatcha C-Radiance mask but even with discount, I don’t think I want to spend that much more.

great haul D! Isn’t C-Radiance in one of the gift sets they have? maybe that might be a good option to save a little $$!

      • diane

yes it is in a set, but i don’t have interest in the other items so it doesn’t really pay 🙂

I placed my online haul as soon as I woke up! I got: Tom Ford Nude Dip, DE Framboos night serum (restock), Benefit Gimme Brow Gel (restock, and the $24 kit for the full size and travel size is a good deal!), a new Beauty Blender, UD Undereye Peach Corrector (restock), and Sephora Collection Blue Clay Mask. I’ll probably end up ordering more as the sale goes on but these were my must-haves!

YAY! You got it! Tell me how you like it! I hope you love it ;-D it’s a great eyeshadow palette. GOOD haul! ;-D

I love to read about your staples! I appreciate all of your reviews; it’s also nice to see what you keep coming back to.
I placed my order before I went to bed last night (thank goodness for PST!). The only staple I stocked up on is the Bite Beauty Agave Nighttime Lip Therapy. I’m coming to the end of the second pot and I just love this stuff. It’s pricey, but it’s the only thing that really moisturizes, lasts all night, and doesn’t irritate my sensitive lips (I also like Laneige lip mask, but it is slightly less moisturizing for me). I’ve now gotten my mom hooked too, haha.

The rest of the order was fun stuff. I picked up the Fenty gloss bomb set, the Natasha mini gold palette, the Clinique cool cheek pop palette (I am so excited for this!), and an Urban Decay Vice lipstick in Gash”I’m pretty afraid of trying red lipstick, but this was such a good deal and a color I might be able to pull off, so I had to go for it.
I also picked up two skincare items. I’m trying the Caudalie SOS Moisturizer. I really like their sorbet moisturizer, but I need something a little richer this time of year so I’m hoping this will work. Also got Inkey’s Ceramide Night Treatment. It’s a decent price and I’m hoping it works well so I can have it as my new holy grail, haha.
