Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eyeshadow Palette ($30) is a new, limited edition 6-pan eyeshadow palette that launched with the Stila Holiday 2019 Collection. I picked this up pretty early on when Holiday Collections were just launching as it was a pretty appealing pick with its gorgeous shades of blue and gold. It was also fairly different from the regular round of nude, natural palettes we have seen plenty of.

It’s a little messy but the Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eyeshadow Palette is a gorgeous palette well worth looking at.

Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eyeshadow Palette arrives in a gold, plastic compact with a very generously sized mirror inside and six eyeshadows with a total weight of 0.28 oz. The palette made in the USA and $30 in price and even better it is now on sale for $18 at Ulta! For Stila, I thought the price was quite nice! Even the outer packaging is very pretty as the palette arrives in a bold, blue box with a velvet Stila ribbon crisscrossing the top.

The palette contains six shades as I said above two of which are mattes and the others are metallics and duochrome metallics. I do wonder if Stila is using this palette as a launching pad for an upcoming range of powder eyeshaodws? If so that might mean we’ll see more like this in Spring 2020. I could do with an entire shade range of the mattes in this formula as they are so soft, so silky, and so buttery smooth! They swatch sheerly but I promise they apply quite lovely with excellent pigment.

Shades include:

  • Enlighten (iridescent crystal with blue sparkle)
  • Enchant (matte rose quartz)
  • Awaken (antique gold shimmer)
  • Discover (matte brown beige)
  • Transcend (iridescent pinky-peach with blue sparkle)
  • Reveal (vibrant sapphire shimmer)

Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eyeshadow Palette (Enlighten, Discover, Enchant, Transcend)

The shimmery, sparkle shades are stunning but user beware these have can be messy with fall out. I recommend priming well with a cream eyeshadow, eyeshadow primer, or even glitter glue. Some of the shades are a bit frosty as well if you don’t blend them out well. All six had fairly nice pigment! Mind you, it isn’t the boldest pigment I’ve ever seen from an eyeshadow but the shades all have good color and build well!

Some of the shades are unique for example if you like duochromes you might love the shade called Transcend which is a mauve with a icy blue shift. One thing that’s odd about the palette is some of the shades just don’t seem to work well together. Enlighten and Reveal go great together as well as Reveal and Awaken and Transcend and Enchant will be nice together but Discover doesn’t quite seem to pair up with anything. It’s a little bit of an odd assortment of shades that don’t quite all work well together. I don’t feel like I can pair up more than two shades together from the six. That’s not a big deal for me because I tend to go with two maybe three shades per a look but some people like to be a bit more creative in their looks. One thing to note is the shades do work individually quite well!

Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eyeshadow Palette isn’t perfect but it sure is pretty!

Where to buy

Ulta Stila Beautylish

Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eyeshadow Palette is a new, limited edition Holiday 2019 launch that includes six eyeshadows which are 0.28 oz in total. The palette includes two matte shades as well as four sparkly metallic and duochrome shades. It’s a pretty round up of shades but it’s a little challenging to use them in a single look at times. The mattes were smooth, silky and easy to apply but the more sparkly shades did have a good deal of chunkier fall out. All six shades had quite nice pigment and build well!

Pros

  • Beautiful selection of shades but not always cohesive.
  • Affordable.

Cons

  • Some shades have chunkier fall out during application.
  • Certain shades don’t quite pair up well together making it challenge to use more than two shades in a look.

Who

Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eyeshadow Palette is an interesting palette with a unique shade range that should be appealing for those who want to stray away from a traditional Holiday look!

Love the look you created with that, Muse! I will definitely be trying to emulate that, because I couldn’t resist this palette, either!

I hauled this because I wanted to try Stila’s shadows! I plan to play with it this week as my Thanksgiving looks. I was going to try pairing Discover (brown) with Awaken (gold). I don’t usually pair gold with blue though but plan to do the other pairings you mentioned with blue/white and rose/pink. You’re right though; this does seem like a palette of 3x 2-shadow looks.

GOOD pair! I might try that. I didn’t think about Discover/Awaken together!

pretty but i know i would never use that blue! love the rest of the colors though.

I would love if you did a follow up of the e.l.f. lip lacquers, they just came out with a handful of new shades and I would love to see them swatched.

Muse, wanted to let you know I played with us over Thanksgiving weekend. It was so pretty! But the fallout was so real. It was fine if I did my foundation last, but I hate doing my foundation last and my eyes first. I’m keeping it because it was just too sparkly and pretty not to. And honestly, I’m a sucker for blue. But man, I wish there wasn’t so much fall out!

    • Isabella Muse

Yeah the fall out is an issue! Lovely formula but glitter glue is needed or some really nice cream base! Try using a sponge tipped eyeshadow applicator! It helps a lot! ;-D
