Trader Joe’s 12 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar Review

Trader Joe’s 12 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar is a new curated beauty collection featuring some new and old Trader Joe’s beauty and skincare picks to count the days down until Christmas. I picked this up last night because I needed Chocolate Lava Gnocchi in my life and was convinced they’d sell out and I’d never try them and I’d feel unfilled for the rest of my life having never eaten a Chocolate Lava filled Gnocchi. When I got them home I was less inclined to cook them. What does one do with Chocolate Lava Gnocchi? Do you toss it with a bit of garlic, olive oil, broccoli rabe, and hot sausage? Only kidding! They are actually meant to be eaten with ice cream or whipped cream! I was feeling daring enough to attempt making them last night without burning the house down so right now they are sitting in my freezer awaiting consumption.

I was most excited about my haul of Trader Joe’s 12 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar though if I’m honesty, even more excited than stocking up on Turkey and Stuffing Chips (mmm my favorite!). When I got home that night and I sat down at the kitchen table to eat Jingle Jangle Ice Cream (because we had to settle on ice cream since the real thing isn’t available until November 18! Damn you Trader Joe damn you to tell with your seasonal limited edition bs!) with my boyfriend and I told him how excited the girl at check out was about the calendar. To which he said, “As excited as you!” all dead pan and sarcastic-like smirking behind his glasses. Yeah, yeah sure sure make fun of the beauty junkie! Bless his little soul for listening to my beauty and makeup stories.

Anyway, she asked me if there was a calendar open by the display and I said yes, there was a basket filled with the contents of the calendar (I guess to prevent evil beings from opening the calendars for themselves to see what was inside). She proceeded to tell me that during her break she’d have to head over for a peek because she wasn’t there when they opened it. That’s when I had a visual Trader Joe employees sitting in the middle of the store around a bonfire singing Kumbaya and passing around the 12 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar to ooo and ahhh over. Because really, that kind of sort feels like something Trader Joe employees would do right?

Spoilers ahead if you want to know the contents of the Trader Joe’s 12 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar!

I sadly, ruined the Trader Joe’s 12 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar because I opened it while eating my Jingle Jangle Ice Cream! Because impatient, instant gratification, insane curiosity, etc…got the better of me. I only casually glanced at the little basket they had on display and I’ve been avoiding Instagram spoilers about the content and I did not read the back of the box so, I was able to sort of surprise myself which each door I popped open.

It might have been done in one sitting but it was damn fun however, I do advise buying it, waiting until Christmas, and opening each door a day just to enjoy it a bit more.

There are some items in the calendar I’ve tried and others I haven’t but all were really, really fun! Some stands out from this calendar were the sweet, tart scent of the Winter Citrus Ultra Moisturizing Cream which had a strong lingering scent and plenty of hydrating oils and butters! I also loved the Coconut Body Butter and the Warm Vanilla Body Butter as well as the yummy cranberry Cider Shimmer Washing and the Brown Sugar Body Scrub. Each door I opened I was more and more delighted! It was like getting a bunch of fun indie beauty items to try out.

Here’s the full list of items:

  • Winter Citrus Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream (0.5 oz)
  • Cranberry Cider Shimmer Body Wash (1 oz)
  • Brown Sugar Body Scrub (1 oz)
  • Pomegranate Moisturizing Lip Balm (0.13 oz)
  • Coconut Body Butter (1 oz)
  • No 3 Formula Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash (1 oz)
  • Warm Vanilla Body Butter (1 oz)
  • Rose Facial Oil (0.33 oz)
  • Exfoliating Sugar Cube (0.52 oz)
  • Peel-Off Charcoal Face Mask (0.5 oz)
  • Enrich SPF 15 Face Lotion (1 oz)
  • Blueberry & Acai Facial Scrub (0.5 oz)

I wish some of these items were available in full sizes like the hand cream which smells amazing!

Oh don’t forget Cat and Dog Advent Calendars are available too 🙂 Sadly, no dog ones at my TJs but they did have one for my cat! Yeah, I’m that kind of weirdo that buys advent calenders for her pets ha…!

Trader Joe’s 12 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar are available now at your local Trader Joe’s for $19.99.

I purchased this item.

So I took a peek at your instagram post before reading and was so confused. I was like, why is there a cat on the other side of the beauty advant calendar with recipes for your cat? How are they connected? LOL!

    • Isabella Muse

LOL! ooo! sorry! It’s actually several photos! I should have done a “swipe” for next pics ;-D I promise, no cat was involved in the beauty advent portion haha!

  • Stacy Kraft

Of course you buy advent calendars for your family members with fur!! They are people too!!!

The TJ’s customers near me are dreadful for opening and trying, even when testers are available. And WHYYYY? when there’s an Ulta across the parking lot, and they can truly trash product… Boy, did that combo turn out dangerous for me. One of my greeting cards has a couple of cats with wash-off green face masks…real cats photoshopped… so why not a beauty advent calendar for cats? Are they having one for dogs? My feelings for TJ’s have evolved into love/hate, f’sure. My pups would eat nothing but TJ soft treats (no supermarket) until I found Rachel, Milo, and a couple of others at Walmart. Same principle as makeup!

    • Isabella Muse

lol! People are just so darn rude! They do have one for the dogs too ;-D I didn’t even know TJ had soft treats! Typically my dog only eats soft treats too!

  • Jen

Omg the cat and dog ones sold me. And this is the 2nd thing ive seen on social media today regarding tjoes holiday stuff. Going today!

      • Jen

Got the beauty one for me and my cats. No dog one but need to go back because they didnt have the pom pom garland yet. And now i want those gnocchi

        • Isabella Muse

Yay! 😀 Mine had the pom pom garland but I didn’t like it. It was a bit linty so I decided I didn’t need. We didn’t try the gnocchi yet but everyone on Insta says it is best air fried so gonna try that ;-D

Btw, got my Vermont Trading Company Xmas catalog yesterday and noticed some new items including Lemon Up scented candle.

    • Isabella Muse

I KNOW! I got it too earlier this week and saw that! ;-D Think it’ll be any good?

    • Rio

I’ve been happy w anything I’ve ordered from them. There are so many things I like in this catalogue! Who knew panettone came in Limincello flavor? And this is the year I’m getting flannel peanuts pajamas !

      • Isabella Muse

Williams Sonoma is still calling it there’s exclusively haha ;-D Someone didn’t tell them that VCS carries it too ;-D they didn’t get the memo! I’m always very pleased with their offerings too. I’m especially fond of the blankets, comforters, and cold weather bedding essentials. Everything is made very well! Haha enjoy those ;-D p.s. I have a pair too! No apologies ;D I dunno if you’re into vintage xmas decor but did you see they have replacement pieces for the vintage ceramic trees? I thought that was so cool as you can change the look of the tree with a few little plastic bits!

      • Rio

I did see those! I think I’m going to order one for my mom. She had a stroke recently and is going to be in a personal care home now, so I’m going to really go nuts when I decorate her room later this month.

  • Ashley

My TJs had opened the doors and put saran wrap over the doors so you could see inside each door – so fun!

    • Isabella Muse

That’s awesome! cool idea! Mine had everything in a basket sitting by the calendars!
