5 stars out of 5

Garnier Water Rose SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water is a new formulation of the classic Garnier micellar water that features rose water. Technically speaking rose water is a plant extract that some people might not want to use on their face but I like it! I used to use rose water toner and facial mist as part of my daily routine. It just makes me feel like a Victorian lady!

I thought it was rather novel that Garnier decided to release their popular micellar cleansing water in a new version that included rose water! This actually released a few months ago but I didn’t indulge because I’m working my way through one of the huge bottles of Garnier Micellar Water but brand was nice enough to send me a sample recently so I finally got to take it for a test drive.

The formula has been tweaked some not only to include rose water but also, it now includes Propanediol that acts to help other ingridents to absorb into skin. I imagine they includes this because there is also Salicylic and Citrus Acid in this new formula both of which I guess act as an AHA of sorts so not only are you cleansing your skin but perhaps removing dead skin cells as well! Although, Garnier doesn’t promote or market it as such merely says it hydrates and cleanses.

I’ve always felt Garnier’s formula is quite like Bioderma but with a lot less ingredients and this takes nothing away from the formula as it works just as good and removes 95% of my makeup quite easily without stripping or drying my skin. However the Salicylic Acid worried me slightly as that’s always a bit drying on my already dry skin! I was also concerned with these added acids that I’d experience burning when used by eyes. Granted, they do warn against use on eyes or at least not getting it into your eyes. I used it on this area without any issues and it actually does a fairly good job removing my eye makeup but probably won’t do so in the future because the acids around my eyes scare me a bit.

I don’t typically use micellar water as a daily cleanser but it works a treat in a double cleanse or when I’m just too tired to do my entire cleansing routine!

This formula contains no alcohol which is fantastic and it leaves skin pleasantly hydrated after. That’s one of the biggest perks of removing makeup with a micellar water the fact that it never strips nor dries skin out. The original formula had no fragrance but since this does contain rose water it does contain a nice and soft rose scent. It’s not an overwhelming rose fragrance but just enough to be noticeable. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, I do occasionally like fragrance in my skincare. I know it isn’t really the best thing in the world but sometimes it really adds to the experience and that is why I’m really liking Garnier Water Rose SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water !

If you like rose scented products I think you’ll get on nicely with Garnier Water Rose SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water.

I used to use the mattifying one, but when I was running out I saw this one at Ulta so I thought I’d give it a try. I like it a lot! Way better than the mattifying one. Removes all of my makeup (I still stick to Clinique TTDO for my eyes) and doesn’t irritate or dry my skin. The scent isn’t overly strong, which I like. No breakouts from it either, and I use it daily. I’ll definitely stick with this one from now on.
