I did it. I purchased the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Shampoo and Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Conditioner and I don’t regret it at all. Each bottle is $25 each and holds nearly 10 ounces of product. I typically don’t go gaga over hair care! I do love my Lush products and of course, my Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo but I’m not one to go to gaga over hair care. However, when I heard Sol De Janeiro was launching shampoo and conditioner scented like their legendary Bum Bum Cream I immediately ordered both.

I know $50 is a lot to spend on shampoo and conditioner but as I said above I don’t regret it (I got free shipping that helps right?). I’m obsessed with the smell of Sol de Janeiro products! It’s a tropical cake fragrance that’s addicting AF. The brand says it has notes of pistachio and salted caramel but all I hear in my head when I smell it is the Beach Boy’s singing “tropical cake melting in your hands” (it’s actually one of the misheard lyrics ever because they are really saying tropical drink melting in your hand but it sounds like tropical cake!). It’s all warm, delicious tropical goodness! Not a suntan fragrance really but a delicious tropical dessert one. It smells amazing to say the least and the fact that my hair can now smell like it thrills me.

I noticed they now have a Brazilian Joia Shampoo + Conditioner Set now which wasn’t on the site when I originally purchased the shampoo and conditioner. The set includes both shampoo and conditioner plus a 1 oz Brazilian Crush Hair + Body Fragrance Mist for $45 which feels a little nicer than the $50 I spent.

I’ve only used the formula twice but so far it seems quite nice. It is color-safe and sulfate-free as well as paraben-free. The shampoo lathers up very nicely and the conditioner is very rich and leaves my hair smooth and well hydrated. The scent, as I said, is amazing and quite long lasting! Even now I can catch faint whiffs of it every time I turn my head!

All in all, it was well worth the price I paid! Love it, love it, love it. If you love Sol de Janeiro I think these are a must to add to your collection! I have hopes at some points they’ll do a perfume in the future to complete my collection.

Muse Approved.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Shampoo and Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Conditioner are available now on the brand’s website but should be coming soon to Sephora.

OTQ: What splurge hair do you like at Ulta? I gave s.o. a GC and suggested a hair splurge as hers is perfection. Turns out she’s an Ulta girl already. Score.

Ooh man. As I mentioned, your glowing reviews got me hooked on the bum bum. I have been using the body mist in my hair as a way to scent layer but this is next level news. Did you ever try the coco cabana cream? I cashed in points for a sample and man I do not like it but I think it might be the plastic sample packaging altering the scent. To me it is the beloved toasted caramel dessert base of bum bum but they took something integral out (pistachio?) and just slapped on a chemically coconut layer.

Hey Lauren! I mist my hair with it too hehe! It’s so next level when you mist it in your hair. when cocoa cabana launched I was in hysterics because I was thinking it had to be even better than Bum Bum right? New launch=AMAZING! Not so much. I don’t get plastic from it I sort of get a burned, toasty coconut…! very synthetic! Nothing like the original! Guess they failed to recapture the magic. I gotta admit it sort of kind of pissed me off they did a Naked launch. I mean, the reason we love the brand is because of the legendary scent! Did anyone really ask them to do something unscented? Who are these crazy people that asked for that? LOL!

I bought all their shower products recently and as wonderful as it is that you step out of the shower smelling head to toe like their famous bum bum cream, I still had a VERY hard time getting the shampoo to lather! I had to use like a third of the bottle which is one expensive hair wash! I’m going to give it another go next time I wash my hair, thinkin my hair wasn’t wet enough when I first applied… thanks for ur reviews, makes me want to try again and not jus call it a loss lol!
