Stila No Longer Available At Sephora

Stila might not be available at Sephora soon! I was browsing Sephora.com today and I noticed most of Stila’s catalog has been downsized dramatically! As of now Sephora carries seven Stila products. Could this mean Stila is exiting Sephora? I have to admit this is rather sad as I remember Stila being one of the first “big” brands I purchased from Sephora many, many years ago!

I mean, I could be paranoid maybe they are revamping the line but somehow I feel like Stila’s time at Sephora is coming to an end. We’ll have to keep a close eye on the stock at Sephora and see how things go down and if the new Stila Double Dip Suede Shade & Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows pop up I’ll feel more confident Stila is sticking around but as of now things aren’t looking great!

What do you think?

Do you think Stila is exiting Sephora? Has their contract finally ended after many, many years?

Will you miss the line?

I know I will! I can easily purchase Stila from Ulta or the brand’s website but I shop Sephora most so, I will definitely miss it if it disappears from their shelves.

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. My local store hasn’t carried Stila in ages but to be honest, I don’t miss it much. When it started, it was such a new and different concept and had such unique shades. I still have three of the refillable eyeshadow palettes but since they changed the line so much over time, eventually I’ll have to pitch them since the pans weren’t a standard size and I can’t get any more. It’s really a shame because they’re some of my all time favorites. The only thing I keep buying is the convertible color, but I’m waiting for them to discontinue that.

Maybe it’s going Masstige, the way Lorac did. Primarily at Kohl’s, with some/less at Ulta. Cargo did that ….and they started at the late, great Barney’s. TheBalm, too, I believe. I think the rise of upper high, but not ultra high end (ND and Huda) has significantly impacted the old faves.

I’ve noticed at my Sephora that the collection they have is getting smaller, maybe they are looking to move out of Sephora like you said. I used to like their products, but I haven’t found any that I really like right now. Maybe they will move to only being sold online at Sephora? Well have to wait to find out I guess.

Stila was the first big brand to be gone from Sephora in my country.

Brands under the LVMH group are leaving too. MUFE is the last one, but Marc Jacobs left six months ago and I am now without my highliner crayon, the only eyeliner I can use without irritation to my eyes.

I will miss the old stila, but I can’t really find anything that I want currently. The first things I ever bought from a Sephora were the original stila gloss in the silver tube in the shade rose, and the cabana girls banana daiquiri shadow trio. I still have a palette with a stila girl cover for single eyeshadows.

Oh yes, that gloss in the silver tube!!! The best ever!! Ad the rose shade was perfect MLBB color!

I usually buy Stila products at Ulta anyway (due to Ulta having a better rewards program than Sephora) so I won’t miss it at Sephora.

I was wondering the same thing about Buxom brand last month. They are not selling any of the newest on the market items??? (I did searched but could not find anything about it).

And sounds really weird they would discontinue any brands under the LVMH Group since Sephora was bought by LVMH in 1997. Why would they not sell their own products? Maybe they are planning on closing location globally? Ouch! 🙁

stila is my go-to for the glitter eyeshadows. i never buy them from sephora though because the stila site has so many good sales and deals all the time.

Yeah, Stila has just become a brand that I’m completely uninterested in. At the risk of coming off rude I won’t say any more, just that I don’t look for it or own any of it. And it was such an aspirational brand! I still remember looking at it lovingly at the Pentagon City Sephora in… 2000? Holy lord. Anyway, goodbye, dear Stila.

Sephora Canada online has 31 products, I don’t see anything specific missing 🙂

Unfortunately Stila most likely won’t be available anywhere except at a liquidator by the end of the year, as they’ve apparently filed for bankruptcy. I work for the distributor so unless someone buys them out again as of November it’s done.

  • Kel Berg

holy crap! if they disappear that will suck. their glitter and glow shadows are my staples!

The Stila Stay all-day liquid liner in black is my holy grail. It’s the only liquid liner that doesn’t burn, or run on my sensitive eyes. I love Sephora, and I like Ulta, but I’m always more leary about buying from an Ulta store in person. maybe cause every Ulta I’ve gone into has been sort of dirty with staff that just doesn’t care. I’ve ordered from Ulta online as well, and the customer service has never been done as well as Sephora’s as, at least towards me. Perhaps I’m just getting bad examples?
I will be sad if Stila leaves Sephora, but more sad if they close down like Becca.

    • Isabella Muse

I’m so sorry to hear your experience with Ulta. That’s so sad! You can always buy it directly from Stila. Hopefully they aren’t having the issues Becca are!

I always loved Stila cosmetics, the colors are gorgeous but in the past few years it became so glittery and people might not want that much glitter on most of their cosmetics. It is bad for the environment and seems to be going out of style if overdone. So much glitter can go into a “gentlemans’ club look” when sometimes you want to have fun, other times you want your look to be tasteful. However, I hope this brand does not go away.
