Today We Give Thanks

It’s terribly hard writing about beauty and makeup during a pandemic. In some ways, it’s a great distraction but in others it feels terribly insensitive to write about a sale or a new shade of lipstick. I love makeup with all my heart but at the moment I’m really struggling writing about it.

That being said, I decided today I’d write a note of thanks to those out there working the front lines.

All those people working the cashiers at the supermarkets, the ones stocking shelves, thank you. All the Uber and Taxi drivers still out there picking up people and taking them to where they need to be during this chaos, thank you. All the Nurses, Doctors, and Aides, thank you! To those who work retailer and your stores haven’t closed, thank you. To anyone out there working in the fast food industry, thank you. To the police officers, firemen and women, and city workers, thank you (I know my garbage guys were out early this AM picking up the garbage!).

To anyone right now who can’t stay home because they work in an industry that won’t allow them to stay home thank you for being brave enough to be out there.

Please be safe all of you. I wish you only the best.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Thank you for this and I will take a page out of your book to make sure I personally thank everyone I come across in the coming days. I know I need to pick up some prescriptions within the next day or two. Gosh, this is uncharted territory for most of us. Be well everyone and take care of yourselves.

On a related note: It does help to read about my favorite thing (MAKEUP). It is a good distractor and gives me a sense of normalcy when things are far from normal. I’m sure my fellow “musers” feel the same

I’ve been a reader of your blog for years but never commented before. Just want to say what you said is really beautiful and very true. This blog is a great distraction for me during this time of uncertainty.
    Stay safe!

    • Isabella Muse

thank you so much Marissa I’m glad you took time to comment today and I’m glad I’m distracting you a bit from the insanity. You be safe too! And stay healthy!

Thanks Muse. I’m in the banking industry so we are classed as essential. Effective tomorrow branch locations are drive through only. Anyone handling cash has to wear gloves. It’s been pretty crazy. People are panicking and trying to withdrawal large amounts of cash, calling or storming in to see our financial advisors due to the market fluctuations.

Here’s to taking it one day at a time.

    • Isabella Muse

Lacy, be strong girl, be strong! Your industry is def on the front lines. Be safe!

  • Sakura

This is lovely! We should all be grateful. I’m one of the lucky ones at home.

    • Isabella Muse

<3! I'm glad to hear it Sakura! Stay in, be safe don't go out unless you absolutely need to <3!

  • Mary Brenner

I’m out there. I’m a NICU nurse. Things are crazy here in Seattle…..this massive wave of hysteria and full blown panic out here needs to stop or people are going to start dropping from heart attacks.
Thank you for your appreciation, please keep posting when you can believe me it is a welcome distraction!
    Stay healthy Muse!❤️❤️
    Mary

What a beautifully written letter. Thank you and I’m sure it is appreciated by everyone. Very thoughtful you took time out of your busy day for all of these heroes.

    • Isabella Muse

And there are plenty of them! Heroes that is! Jennifer just posted she unloads freight at Walmart, she’s one of those heroes that deserves a big thanks and if could I’d give her a hug too (after all this is over obviously 🙂

  • Jennifer B

Thanks . I work at Walmart unloading trucks and working freight. Bringing toilet paper to the desperate masses.

    Somebody has to do it!

    • Isabella Muse

Thank you very very very much Jennifer! You might not be working at my Walmart but I appreciate what you are doing out there! We need you, thank you for being there for us!

    • Dee

Jennifer, more than likely we aren’t in the same state but I want to thank you too! For the first time I am using Walmart grocery pickup service since I have been home sick this week. Never have used it before but so appreciate the ability to get groceries without going inside a store while sick. Thank you so much and stay well!

  • Dee

Please keep posting about makeup. It is the a great distraction for so many.

Yes, we owe a huge truckload of gratitude to so many!

I’m Senior Chemist at a large Water Utility, so I am also essential personnel. Safe drinking water is a must! Not to mention safe wastewater treatment. I’m trying to stay healthy.

    • Isabella Muse

AGREED! What are your recommendations for safe wastewater treatment? I live in a large city so I imagine this isn’t an issue but upstate many areas use a septic system.

      • Michelle

We have 2 large water reclamation facilities for wastewater treatment that we also monitor constantly and it’s treated in a way that is minimally impactful to the environment. There are stringent guidelines that we have to meet for this. Much of the treated water (after an additional chlorine disinfection) is also used for irrigation purposes, so it is getting recycled. It’s quite an involved process!

        • Isabella Muse

Thank you for your service!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes we never think about these things! We open a tap, water flows, but don’t remember their are people behind the scenes making sure we have fresh, clean water!

  • Mary

Brought tear to my eyes. I am a DSW for elderly people with disabilities, regardless of what happens we must work. Please stay home if you can so we can protect our elders and at risk people

    • Isabella Muse

thank you Mary! My parents are older and I haven’t seen them in several days and it’ll probably be weeks before I do. Maybe even months. Thankfully they don’t need special care but regardless, I am very very grateful for people like you! Your job is NOT easy. Thank you for being out their helping our elder because they are a very important part of our society.

  • Anna

well said Muse, I just want to also shout out the Custodial Staffs in schools, hospitals etc.. because they are often forgotten and they too are on the front lines of cleaning up the virus.

    • Isabella Muse

TOTALLY correct Anna! They are very important people in the field! They deserve a huge shout out thank you for reminding me of them!

  • dark nyx

I don’t find it insensitive that you are continuing on with your blog. While we are in a pandemic, I feel we all must do what we can to continue living “somewhat” normally – we must remember that we will get through this. You are very thoughtful to have posted this to acknowledge and appreciate everyone out there doing their part.

I have been a reader of your blog for many years, all the way back to when you jokingly referred to yourself as a “makeup snob” and your love for Japanese makeup paralleled mine. I don’t comment much but just wanted to thank you for such a beautiful post!

  • Colleen

Amen! Well said Muse. Thank you to all of those people. And thank you to you Muse for helping us to keep things in perspective . Wishing everyone the best. Stay healthy

  • mellokitty

And thank you Muse! Your blog is a great distraction for me. My Ulta is shut down as well as our entire mall. Resturants, bars, hair and nail salons closed for weeks…think my wedding may be canceled next week! But trying to stay positive and feel blessed no one I love is sick yet. Please stay safe and keep blogging for us! ♡♡♡♡

  • Alexis

I’ve never commented on any blog. But I’ve been reading this one for at least ten years. Thank you for reviewing so many products and for your tireless enthusiasm. In times of great fear and uncertainty we need stuff to make us feel better, and things that make the world feel normal again, even if it’s for just a bit. So we need you. Keep on sweet girl.
