What’s the Beauty Ritual You Miss the Most As You Stay Home Safely

If you’re at home and safe I’m glad! Stay there! Maybe not for yourself but for older people or those with immunity issues. And if you do go out just be safe doing so. I dunno about you but I’m pretty scared. I think we’ll all come out of this with seriously OCD hand washing issues and possibly need a therapist. Because man, this is scary. I’m washing my hands so much they are drying and bleeding.

What’s even more scary is the fact I am now watching shows like Before 90 Days Finance. WTF! David WHY!? WHY damn you!? Why!? No one is that gullible! I never, ever watch reality tv! This is wrong so very wrong! I need to find any and all info about Darcey Silva because she is fascinating haha!

I miss being out and about with friends. Having dinner out, going to the movies, shopping….! It’s only been two weeks but it feels like much longer. I’ve been keeping busy working in my garden, reorganizing my pantry three times, and cleaning the door knobs and light switches in the house every two minutes. I’m also thinking of putting up some new shelves in my laundry room! Any suggestions? Plus the chronic hand washing takes up a good portion of my day…!

🙂

I’ve also done some beauty pampering but there are beauty rituals I can’t perform without a little help. Here’s one I miss really, really badly.

I miss threading my brows. I’m coming out of this experience as a cave woman! I did between my brows and I plucked a little bit honestly my brows are bushy AF at the moment. I look like a crazy person. I don’t really know how to wax or thread my own brows and rely on visiting the salon to get them done. That’s impossible right now and honestly, even after this is done I’m a little concerned about people touching my face. It might be a while before I do my brows again.

What beauty rituals are you missing?

Roots need a touch up?

In need of a hair cut?

Missing your weekly or monthly facial?

Do share!

I just want to get my darn PRP microneedling session done. LOL! It’s been a year since my last treatment, and while my derms’s office is still open, I feel kind of weird going in for an aesthetic treatment when I should just stay home. I am, however, going in for a quick chemical peel, as that’s part of my monthly ongoing treatment with her (has been for years), and that only takes like 10 minutes at most for her to check that I don’t have any rashes or eczema breakouts. So at least I have that routine in.

Other than that, I tend to give myself facials at home, so I’m not missing out on too many rituals. I do miss being able to run out to the store and grab whatever I’m missing from my skincare, though.

I’m not watching reality TV, but omg, so many Asian dramas to watch that I’m literally watching a bunch at the same time and fast forwarding content that’s just fluff (this is my first time doing this. LOL!). NEED to watch them all! Skate Into You is cute, by the way, but again, fast forwarding through the weird parts. Haha!

    • Isabella Muse

oh my god where are you watching Skate Into You!? I can’t find it anywhere! Aw I feel like my skin is looking rather bad at the moment for some reason. I’m just tight and dry! I’ve been doing my own little facials and such with masks (I was thinking of you last night as I used one you recommended). I just miss my routines! I always have a routine and now I’m all wild lol!

      • Christina

Haha. I just realized I called it Skate Into You instead of Love, but you understood me. 🙂 It’s on YouTube and I think Viki has it now. Also, Love of Thousand Years/Killing of Three Thousand Crows is good too.

My face is super dry, too, so I’ve gone back to the basics. Right now, KraveBeauty Barrier Reef and Skinceuticals Triple Lipid has been helping lots.

        • Isabella Muse

i did too so don’t worry lol! 😀 I was searching youTube but didn’t see it. I always get frustrated with Viki because the subs aren’t always good. Sometimes they are goofy! I am watching the Outsider (almost done) now so next up Skate Into Love! ;-D I dunno why but I am so tight. Could be the dry heat in my house. It’s chilly in the evening so still have the heat on!

Washing your hands till they bleed actually leaves you at a higher risk for infection than not washing at all. Intact skin is your body’s first line of defense.

    • Isabella Muse

it’s just cracked knuckles and I have them covered 🙂 I’ll be ok!

I was getting used to having my nails done for every holiday. So I really miss it.

  • yelena

nails! before we went on lock down i went to get my nails done (dip powder mani). but that was 2 weeks ago. aside from them growing out, they were starting to break, so i took the plunge and spent about 2 hours trying to soak them off. my poor nails/fingers. i’m letting them breathe right now but boy i can’t wait for a professional manicure.

i have done at home pedi which is easy. as far as brows, i usually get them waxed every couple months but maintain in between. I’ve always done my own brows, but just plucking (no wax/threading). my tip is fill them in as u usually would, and if you don’t fill them in, just use a brow pencil/eye liner to outline the shape you want to keep. then slowly start plucking individual hairs, one by one that fall outside your outline. keep checking every so often so u don’t over pluck 😉

I promise, with patience and care, it’s super easy!

    • Isabella Muse

my sis just said that today to me on the phone. She does her nails ever two weeks and she’s missing the routine! oh good tip! I might try that!

  • Kathy

Pedicures – I actually had to trim my toenails so they look like crap 🙁

  • Dee

I had my brows threaded before this hit so I”m ok for now. I was supposed to get my hair cut and highlighted today., so that is the ritual I am missing. It doesn’t look too bad right now, but another month and it will be a disaster. A friend said that we are all going to see what each other’s hair color really is by the time this is over.

I find I’m not putting makeup on like I normally would. Before this happened I put it on almost everyday and always enjoyed the process. I’m just not doing ti right now. Keep telling myself I need to get a routine going!

    • Isabella Muse

LOL! It’s sort of crazy how much we depend on outside sources for our hair, brows, nails, etc…! And now we’re all like OMG I’m going to look horrible when this is over ;D I do it. I’m at home but I still do it. I take a shower each day, get dressed, do my makeup. I just feel depressed sitting around in pjs all day!

  • Heather

I am in NY, too, and it totally does feel like we will be quarantined for the foreseeable future. 🙁 It’s so hard to stay positive, but I am trying to focus on tackling just one day at a time!

I am very fortunate in that I am able to work from home, so what I’m about to say does not come from a place of complaint at all. I know that I am a lot luckier than many at this time, and I am very grateful.

The beauty ritual I miss the most is doing my makeup. I haven’t worn makeup in 4 weeks and, while I’ve told myself on a couple of Saturdays recently that I’ll do it just to enjoy it, I haven’t been able to bring myself to put it on. While I certainly have enough makeup to last my entire lifetime :D, it feels like a waste. I hope that this feeling doesn’t last during the entire time I am quarantined, as it feels very strange.

I do my own nails all the time, so I’ve made sure to keep to my bi-weekly manicures. Seeing a flash of fun colors on my hands while I’m washing them 298 times a day brings a bit of joy to my day. It also makes me more conscious of ensuring I’m putting on hand cream any time I wash my hands, as I, too, am very prone to dryness and cracking.

My new motto has become “this, too, shall pass,” and I wish everyone reading this good health. Xo

    • Isabella Muse

It sure does. I’m just taking it one day at a time because it feels like things change every day.. One day it’s this and the next day it’s that. So, I just take it all into stride. I’m confused who to believe. Cuomo is all doom and gloom, Trump is “Yay we’re fine!”, and Fauci, who I do trust, is sending out all sorts of mixed info. Yesterday they said expect to see 200,000 deaths, this morning I wake up and the number is 240,000. There’s so much mixed information it’s really hard to figure out who to trust. Thank god for that. Be safe! For a while I was like you! I couldn’t even blog because I felt like who the hell wants to hear about makeup now? But it’s really a good form of therapy for me and it makes me feel normal. I get up every morning, take a shower, put on regular clothes, and do my makeup just to feel normal you know? Try it! It’ll make you feel really good 🙂 My motto is def the same as you! It only feels like the end of the world but it’ll pass like all bad things do! 🙂 stay safe and healthy! and keep paining those nails! ;-D

      • Heather

It really is so hard to know what to believe. Social media, and the media in general, has been both a blessing and a curse throughout all of this. There’s just so much information – whether it’s factual or not – going around!

While I may not be putting makeup on, I still do really enjoy reading about it, so I am grateful for your blog posts! The routine that you’ve put together for yourself is really smart. I, too, value routine in my daily life to help keep me sane and feeling like I’m in control, so I really appreciate your advice! Stay well and safe! Xo

        • Isabella Muse

is it me or does a lot of feel like sensationalism? It just seems a lot of it is completely false! But I dunno what the heck to believe anymore. It def keeps things sane when you have some sort of routine. I’m a person that hates change so I like to stick to my routines! It’s comforting 🙂 Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying the posts! Be well, stay safe and healthy!

          • Heather

I think there’s a bit of sensationalism at play (the media wants views, clicks, etc.), as well as the fact that things are rapidly changing, which results in information changing just as quickly. I don’t know what to believe, either, though, like you, I tend to place trust in Dr. Fauci! At least he has credentials to back up his statements.

I also hate change, so I think your advice to do my makeup is spot on. 🙂 Thank you so much for chatting with me!

          • Isabella Muse

Agreed 200%! Some of the articles that pop up are absurd. Yesterday one was about washing your face to contain the virus and another about how the virus can get into your feet your shoes and feet so washing your feet before coming inside is a good practice. Ok, sure, don’t wear your shoes inside is obvious but if I need to wash my feet every time I step inside I feel like that’s 1. sort of scary 2. really overkill. It’s hard to understand if this is something that we should be doing or is this just for the clicks. It’s insane. I def trust Fauci although, sometimes he can be a little iffy as well as he’ll say one thing only to change it around within a day or two but I guess that’s understandable because as we all learn more about the virus things change every second, every minute, every single day. ;-D Ahhh thank you for chatting with me! Def keeps me sane 😀 <3!

I’m right there with you. I need my brows threaded. I had an appt the Friday ( the day after) the Gov. of CA declared all non essential business shut down. I’ve been using one of those little personal battery operated trimmers( I don’t know what they are called) to trim my brows a little, tweezing like crazy, and filling in with pencil, but its NOT THE SAME. I want a damn pedicure too. Its warming up in SoCal and I wear flip flops a lot!!

    • Isabella Muse

omg you gave me an idea! I need to buy one of those. Does it work?

      • Randi Macdonald

The personal trimmer thing works well for me. I do the top of the brows only and kinda skim it over the super long hairs I get.

  • Patti

Manicures and pedicures. I am racing to get a mani-pedi when this is over! Thanks for posting, it’s an awesome distraction from the world!

  • Mo

I have vivid hair (purple, blue, teal), so I am really missing my colorist!
