Do You Use Apps To Shop Because I Know I Don’t

Ulta is currently offering 100 points on a first time purchase using their app and I’m all, “Keep the points!”. Do you use apps to shop online? The Sephora app? Ulta’s app? Everyone has one! On a rare occasion I purchase items from the Sephora app and the Amazon one but it’s pretty rare.

I don’t like apps.

Why?

Because I find it difficult to navigate via an app. I find browsing Sephora, Ulta, Amazon, etc…easier on a desktop and faster. I can locate what I am looking for much faster on a desktop and I feel like I get a better view of the product versus staring at a smaller version on my phone. Am I weird and alone in my refusal to shop via apps? Probably! But I just don’t like to use apps for shopping.

How about you?

Do you utilize apps for purchasing products? Especially makeup ones?

Do share!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. NO!!! You are SO not alone!!! I don’t like either sephora’s or ulta’s app (or pretty much anyone else’s for that matter) And – why should I take up the memory space for the damn app when I can just snoop around on the website? That’s never made sense to me, other than for the app to track your info. no thanks.

I knew we were more than skin twins, Muse!! 😀

I think I’m old because apps just don’t do it for me when I shop. I like having a ton of tabs open when I shop and with an app you have to keep switching back and fourth. It’s a pain! Thanks but no thanks ;-D hehe! We are indeed!

I love using the apps because they help me figure out rewards and points and help me manage my credit cards easily!

I def like credit card apps but shopping ones not so much!

I use the Sephora app, mostly because I get tired of opening the site in a mobile browser and having it ask me DO YOU WANT TO VIEW THIS IN THE APP every time. I need to shop for clothes on a desktop, though, because I hate scrolling so much to find what I want and zooming into the tiny pictures on mobile. But for Sephora skincare and makeup, I usually already know what I’m looking for, and my checkout info is saved in my app.

I just don’t shop at all on mobile. I like desktop because I can open a ton of tabs at once and explore a bit easier for some reason!

I may look the price of something up on an app but I’ve never done any shopping on one. Too small for my old eyes!

I do all of my browsing & shopping on my iPad from the comfort of my loveseat & a lot of the websites can get glitchy on safari, so I’m forced to use apps from my favorite stores. I do not like to shop on apps either for the same reasons as yours, so I only use them if the website is not cooperating with me. For the past week, I had to use Ulta’s app cos every time I click on something on the website, I get a blank page with a pop up that says either there is a problem processing my request or my browser direction is bad. Frequently Macy’s will not add items to my cart nor let me me look at reviews.

Always, but on iPad; I’m one of the 2-4% that does not have a phone. It’s hardly perfect. Seldom use laptop. But I google the sites. Installed the S app, when it was first out, but hell no. Terrible. So as to a mobile dedicated app for Ulta, I doubt it would improve googling ulta.com. Not that the .com sites don’t need improvement, but…

I do use Sephora’s app for shopping, but Ulta’s won’t download on my phone nor on my tablet.

  • Natalie

I really don’t like buying things on my phone at all, I will use it just to browse but if I’m actually going to buy I use my laptop. Probably a good thing, less impulse buying!

I will use the Amazon app as well as the QVC app to shop, have never been interested in using the Ulta app to shop. But overall, I enjoy using my desktop computer for a great deal of my online shopping.

I am totally with you when it comes to shopping using apps. No thank you! I much prefer desktop websites!
