Juliette Has A Gun Lipstick Fever Has Arrived But Will It Disappoint

Wanna smell like lipstick? Juliette Has A Gun Lipstick Fever has arrived! Juliette Has A Gun Lipstick is a new perfume and fragrance that arrives for Spring/Summer 2020 which includes notes of Iris, Violet, Raspberry, and vanilla to recreate the experience and scent of lipstick. Is it like Maison Martin Margiela Lipstick On or Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose? Probably. I find that most fragrances that are going for the lipstick scent experience will head into the realms of Guerlain’s popular iris and violet fragrance and this one goes heavy on both notes. It also contains notes of patchouli and and raspberry. I think the patchouli will play an important part in the fragrance and give it a certain dept when added to the iris and violet but the raspberry will likely be drown out by the heavier floral notes. The end result? It’ll likely smell like Guerlain Meteorites Le Parfum.

I have hopes I’m wrong about that though!

Ok, don’t get me wrong I love the smell of Guerlain products. Who doesn’t? It just reminds me of Old Hollywood glam! Marilyn Monroe, Faye Wray, Guerlain captures the old days of Hollywood so well! Some folks feel it smells like their grandmother’s powder, others think of as a favorite lipstick scent, to me I picture some glam silver screen’s actress bedroom smelling like violet and iris face powder. It’s a great scent but I think it’s been done before and Juliette Has a Gun Lipstick Fever will prove disappointing if it does indeed smell like what I am picturing it will smell like. I think this idea has been used before and their are fragrances out there that already capture the lipstick scent elements very well! I’m hoping for something a bit different and more unique from Juliette Has a Gun.

What do you think of Juliette Has A Gun Lipstick Fever?

Is it something that excites you?

Juliette Has A Gun Lipstick Fever is available now on the brand’s website and should be available at other retailers soon!

Years ago, I was shopping in NYC and went to one of the fancier department stores that had Frederic Malle, which was totally new then. They had a special booth where you sampled it in isolation – pretty cool! Anyway, it didn’t smell like lipstick at all.

I don’t think any of these scents can accurately reproduce the scent of lipsticks. I’m old enough to remember when all the “good” lipstick brands had a special scent. They were floral and most were based on rose. I kind of miss that – when I was still quite young and having enough money to go to the department store instead of the 5&10 to buy makeup, I felt like I’d “arrived ” when I first bought a fancy scented lipstick.

mmm I sort of get lipstick from Frederic Malle. I think i associate lipstick scent with C. Howard’s Violet candies and gum. That’s basically how I think of a lipstick scent!

I like to give JHAG the benefit of the doubt – but I am not sure why I do. Their only fragrance that has blown me away was sunny side up. It sounded dull as dirt from the descriptions but it wears so well and uniquely. It’s one of the most “living” fragrances I’ve worn, as far as longevity and a creative dry down. Maybe its just a good combo for me. Maybe this one will surprise too. But I would not blind buy.

likewise. I like the idea of it more than I do the actual product. For a niche brand the scents are so weak on me 🙁 I do like the fragrances but they aren’t terribly unique. I do like Sunny Side Up like you and Mmmm but even those are both weak for me at times. It’s def a highly debatable fragrance house!

have you tried these fragrances? i’m on the email list but have never smelled any of them. i’m so curious if they are long lasting, if i will like them and if its worth it. lmk!

yes, I reviewed a few as well. I typically don’t have good experiences with the wear time. They seem to disappeared very fast on me 🙁
