What Makes Up The Largest Part of Your Beauty Collection?

Do you have a lot of eyeshadow palettes? Tons of lipstick? What makes up the largest part of your beauty collection? I always want to say that my collection is equal across the board but that’s simply not true. I use to be a collector of single eyeshadows but palettes started to become more and more popular and they started to make up a major part of my collection!

But you might be surprised to know that my makeup collection is surpassed by something else!

Fragrance.

I likely have more perfume than I do makeup. GASP! Did I shock you? Surprise you? It’s true! I definitely have more perfume than I do makeup and you know I have A LOT of makeup! I love fragrance and it makes up a major part of my beauty collection. I collect a variety of different niche and indie perfumes. I also like rotating them and bringing out different scents for the season which I display on my vanity.

What makes up the largest part of your beauty collection?

Lipstick?

Eyeshadow Palettes?

Blushes?

What do you have the most of in your collection?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Lipstick. Boxes and boxes of lipstick. There’s always something new to try.

    • Isabella Muse

Really!? I have A LOT of lipstick but I don’t think it dominates my collection. I guess because it’s the product I use the least. I’m more of a gloss girl!

  • Kelly

Eyeshadow and fragrance are probably tied.. I find lip products go bad too quickly to hoard. As a teenager I use to have one or two eyeshadows and a ton of different glosses, even though they all looked the same ☺️ I think finding better quality eyeshadow brands made eyeshadow more fun.

    • Isabella Muse

I’d say that my eyeshadow palettes def almost compete with my fragrances! I have a lot of eyeshadow ;-D but I think fragrances beat it out slightly! It’s true. Right now, quality is key when it comes to any purchase since it’s gone down so much in recent years!

  • Kimmwc03

Lip stick and gloss. I’ve been organizing my collection lately and the lip products were overwhelming.

    • Isabella Muse

Lipgloss def dominates my stash too but I try to limit myself because they go bad so fast 🙁

  • Gina

I thought lipsctiks and glosses were #1, but just discovered that just like you, my #1 are fragrances!
My favorite was “Be Jeweled” and “Preppy Princess” by Verand Wang, such lovely notes they had <3
#2 I think lipsticks and lip glosses and #3 eyeshadow palettes

    • Isabella Muse

I thought palettes were mine! But my fragrance def overtakes that ;D

      • Gina

        Well, fragance is good too!!
I want to try and invest more on skincare than make up, but then you can see Etude with a Tsum Tsum Collection, or Aritaum with pretty palettes, PeriPera with more tints and I just sigh and say to myself “you don’t need it…. but you know you want it because look how cute those Tsum Tsum liptints looks like!!” and goodbye to my “more skincare, less make up” idea

        • Isabella Muse

Oh gosh I was going to say no to Tsum Tsum but it keeps calling me ugh!

          • Gina

Right??!! I want to try the Jellyful Blur Balm and want one or 2 tints.
I think the blushes are very light, but the cases are so pretty!! T-T

          • Isabella Muse

omg! that’s what’s on my list too! Jellyful Blur Balm ;-D and I feel like I really need the blushes as well ;-D I know I’ll likely cave!

  • Christina

Eyeshadows, for sure! Followed by blushes. But I also purge a lot of makeup, so my collection is a lot smaller than it could be. XD And for some weird reason, I have a ton of nail polish despite never painting my nails. It’s because I know a shop that sells at almost wholesale prices to the public. It’s legit and legal, and I get drawn in by all the sparkly colours. I’ll take you one day when you’re in town. It’s a bit of a secret. Haha.

    • Isabella Muse

NOT SKINCARE? ;-D Ha! I love it! A secret nail polish society ;-D I’m in town first thing we do before food is SHOP SHOP SHOP! I feel like it’s been ages since I shopped! Online doesn’t count 😀

      • Christina

I love love love skincare and wanted to be a derm when I was younger. I have a good collection of skincare, but having battled with acne for years (probably trying too many things) and finally have zero acne for over a year, I’m super cautious about what I put on my face. What if I switch creams and I break out again?!!!! LOL! So yeah, it’s decreased as I only try one new product at a time. 🙂 I figure masks, cleansers, essences, and eye creams are “safe” to try often. Since I can’t test out a lot of skincare, my only choice is makeup! 🙂

        • Isabella Muse

Same here! I def have a lot and I hate myself for it because sometimes I don’t always use it before it expires but I always want to try something new and exciting. No acne issues but it’s absurd to spend so much on skincare and have it expire because I have so much I’m not using it all up so I def cut back!

  • Cindy

Lipsticks with blush in second place. I’m loyal to the same face and eye products but lipstick can always change! (Like the 40,000 reds I have lol.) Very sad that this whole mask-wearing business has put my lipstick-wearing on hold :(.

    • Isabella Muse

LOL! I’m probably close to that number of reds. I never wore red and when I started forget it! My collection exploded with the shade ;-D Me too! Blush seems to be an issue too because my mask covers my entire face it feels like so why bother with blush!?

      • Cindy

I know, right? At least if I try a blush I don’t like the mask will take care of that! The mask has stripped away my red-lipstick trademark though. I’ll need to get some eye makeup skills now . . .

        • Isabella Muse

Haha! ;-D It does rub off with a mask! Sucks! ;-D I’ve been wearing SO little makeup it’s absurd!

          • Cindy

Decided that since I can’t wear lipstick now, it’s time to organize them. Ordered a Helmer (wish I could get an Alex but don’t have the space). This will be a colossal project but we’ll see how it goes lol. Right now they are in 9 clear train cases stacked on the floor . . .

          • Isabella Muse

be careful putting it together. That damn thing can slice through skin LOL!

          • Isabella Muse

p.s. off topic did you get any of your concert ticket money back? Every concert ticket we ordered for Summer is still pending a refund 🙁

          • Cindy

Already put together 3 Helmers for nail polish 3 years ago with a YouTube video so hopefully it won’t be too bad. Have a refund request in for one show, waiting to hear if they will postpone or offer refunds for 2 shows and my 2 friends wouldn’t let me request a refund for one of the shows because it’s been rescheduled with an actual date for 2021 (like anyone knows if that will happen).

  • Rachael

Blush! I’ve decluttered my makeup collection significantly over the last year and said goodbye to several eye/face palettes (that used to be the bulk). But I recently discovered a love of cream blushes – specifically Nudestix.

  • Liza

Makeup brushes. This is my biggest weakness and by far the largest part of my collection! The funny thing is I still want more!

    • Isabella Muse

Oh my god I had this problem! I used to buy a lot of holiday sets! It got absurd! I cut my habit though ;D

  • Stephanie

Hi Muse! Definitely lipsticks and nail polishes. I love both, but have significantly cut back on buying them lately.

  • Donna Jensen

Fragrance (more than a thousand) followed closely by hair care and lipstick. That is not to say that there aren’t also way too many products of other types, sadly.

    • Isabella Muse

AMAZING! I want to come over! I have a lot of bottles but not a thousand! What are your favorites!? Tell me everything!

  • Jaimie

    Hi Muse!

I would have to say #1 perfume, body spray body lotion and shower gel with eyeshadow palettes running a close #2.

Every time I organize my stuff I make a solemn oath to not purchase anything new until I use up at least 1/2 of my stuff. Of course I break that oath every time something new and cute and scented hits the shelf! 😉 Kinda eyeing those new M.A.C. scented setting sprays you posted about lol! Even though I have sooooooo many setting sprays already! Lol!

    • Isabella Muse

Ha me and you both! Twins! Def perfume with body mists coming a close second and shower gels! I DO THE SAME THING! especially when I’m rearranging my clothes, shoes, and purses for the seasons. I’m always ok, no more new stuff and yup, break that promise wicked quick! Same for new fragrances and makeup! ugh! What is wrong with us hehe! I got two of them this morning! UGH! I really did not need them but they were so tempting ;-D

  • MDW

Fragrance is very useful now. Loss of smell, anosmia, is a symptom SCV2.

And one can test the effectiveness of a nose and mouth covering. I was wearing a mask and walked past a man. I got a good dose of his cologne. So I knew to adjust my mask.

Speaking of fragrance, a lot of women prefer men’s fragrances. Some prefer Grey Flannel or citrusy scents. Sometimes women’s fragrances may go too far on the sweet side. Maybe they cost less to make.

I like the aldehyde fragrances. Clean scents.

    • Isabella Muse

too true! Def proves how good your mask is or not ;-D I love some masculine scents too.

  • Jennifer Bortolin

I also have lots and lots of perfumes and fragrances too. But in my beauty collection, it would be eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks that I have the most of.
