Briogeo Top Picks And What Works Great for My Long, Wavy Hair

A lot of people are sort of amazed that Briogeo is founded and owned by a black woman. I think people assume it’s a brand under some larger parent company like L’Oreal but in reality it was founded and is owned by Nancy Twine. She’s one of the youngest African American women to launch a hair care line at Sephora being in her twenties at the time of launch. Nancy is one of those triple threats that we should recognize and admire for the fact that she is not only African American but also, because she’s young and a woman. Imagine being merely 33 years old and already having a highly successful business under your belt? That’s success right there!

Briogeo is actually one of those Instagram made me do it brands. I saw so many ads for it and people promoting it across Instagram that I suddenly had to find out what all the hyped was about. After trying it out for myself I was hooked.

Here’s some of my top picks for my long, wavy hair!

Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfoods Hair Mask
VERY new but very GOOD! I grabbed up this new mask when it first launched and I’m in love with it. I’ve been using it once a week and it leaves my hair so soft and shiny!

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo
I see this as more of a treatment for some with oily hair but it actually works a treat for most anyone that wants to get a good deep cleanse in. I never heard of exfoliating shampoo until I tried this. It’s a charcoal and coconut oil-infused shampoo with a slightly grainy texture and a low sud formula which acts to raw impurities from the scalp and hair follicle. I like using it when my hair seems to be weighted down with product and I need a little clarifying. I use it with a scalp massager. It’s def one of the brand’s star products!

Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Banana + Coconut Superfoods Nourishing Hair Value Set
Gentle, Be Kind Banana and Coconut Nourishing Superfood Shampoo and Conditioner are both available indivdually but this set contains both as well as a small size of the Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado and Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask. Not only do I love the lingering scent of this shampoo and conditioner duo but also I adore how it conditions my hair and I always feel like I lose less strands in the shower when using it! Big yay for this one!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. Hello! From New Mexico! Bet you didn’t know you had a reader from here 🙂 A longtime reader from the hard hit with COVID-19 Navajo Nation actually. Our state( like yours) was hit hard and is still battling COVID-19 and it’s effects. Frankly, it’s been hard. It would be nice if everyone got on the same page now and then to work things out that would benefit everyone. I can wish can’t I? I want to wish you New Yorkers well, as well as everyone else! Thank you Muse for your blog and I hope you have a great day!

Navajo Nation? Amazing! Hi Kari! I have a lot of readers from all over the US and different countries but you may very well be my first from Navajo Nation! 😉 I feel really honored to have you here! I should do wish that too! Maybe one day Kari! Lord knows there a lot of people out there trying to bring about good change. Thank you! I wish you well to! I hope COVID leaves you soon! Been there, I know what you are going through 🙁 Stay strong! Keep yourself and your family safe. Have a good day <3!

I really love the Don’t Despair, Repair mask but do you think the Avocado one is better?

Second, Walmart has dupes of many Briogeo products and I have used them and find them just as good. They’re the Equate line.

I actually like the avocado one better. Don’t get me wrong don’t despair is amazing but I just like the avocado a bit better! It seems to do really well with my dryness and rizz! No kidding! Gotta try those but the only problem is I tried Equate’s cleansing balm and was sooooo disappointed so not sure I trust them anymore lol! Where can I locate them? Hair care aisle? Gotta go to Wally World this weekend I’ll have a look! Do they have a scalp exfoliater?

Dryness and frizz is my issue too. I agree, Equate can be hit or miss but the pre-shampoo scalp treatment and the scrub worked just as well as any high end brand. (As an aside, the ONLY hair care brand I have ever found that is totally different and well worth the money is Virtue. I am saying that in comparing even to high end brands like Oribe, Kerastase, Olaplex, Moroccan Oil, Furterer, and all the usual suspects such as Redken/Wella/Devacurl/Paul Mitchell etc.)

Yes, they are in the hair care aisle, by the dandruff area which seems odd but that’s where they are. They’re only around $6.00, too.

They have it at my local store gonna check it out ;-D thanks for the rec Donna curious if I’ll like it ;-D I’m a Carol’s Daughter fan girl personally but since L’Oreal purchased it it’s a bit meh!

I have a love/ hate relationship with this brand. Some of the hair masks that are award winning i was not impressed with. I do like their volumizing shampoo and conditioner and the rose hair oil. Several of the Allure beauty seal products were nothing special in my opinion.
