Revlon x WW84 Celebrates Makeup Inspired by Wonder Woman (Maybe!)

Revlon x WW84 is a new makeup collection inspired by Wonder Woman and the new Wonder Woman 1984 Movie that is starting to launch in stores in preparation for the movie release in October. The movie was supposed to be a major Summer blockbuster but with the pandemic the launch got pushed two different times and finally a Fall 2020 date was set. I dunno about you but movie theaters in New York aren’t yet open or at least the ones around my area aren’t. I believe they open after Phase 4 is complete and Andrew gives us the big old go ahead to tell us “ok, safe to go back to the movie again, Gothamites!” Even when he finally says that I’m not even sure I want to go even for Wonder Woman!

Anyway, there is the Revlon x WW84 Collection to get excited about. Maybe?

Ok, so, when MAC released the Wonder Woman Makeup Collection I think I forgot to appreciate it more because that collection was pretty cool with the original comic book Wonder Woman images. This Revlon Collection mmmmm, it’s kinda of boring! Yesterday, I reviewed the Revlon WW84 Colorstay Cream Eyeshadow and that didn’t even have any special packaging so, some of the below items I guess I should be grateful for because at least they are packaged in red with gold accents. I guess, I need to take into account this is the film version of a makeup launch which means there’s not a lot of ways you can really give a nod to Wonder Woman with it. I do think it could have done better though somehow. What do you think?

I will say some of the shade range like the bright red lipsticks are very much Wonder Woman feeling. I associate red lipstick with Wonder Woman for some reason and there are plenty of reds in this collection to choose from. That being said, I hate to disappoint, but everything in this collection including the lipsticks are all re-promoted shades! You might already own some of these which means you won’t need to pick them up again.

The one sole piece that might be of interesting is the Revlon x WW84 Compact Mirror. They always get me with the damn mirror.

Here’s some other pieces in the launch!

Revlon Transforming Effects Powders $9.99
A dual-sided powder eyeshadow stick with purple and aqua shades.

Revlon x WW84 Warrior Glitter Lip Color $10.99
A glittery lip color that can be used alone or on top of your favorite lipstick!

Revlon X WW84 Revlon Kiss Melting Shine Lipstick $12.99
A gorgeous melty lipstick that give lips shine and color.

Revlon X WW84 Ultra HD Matte Lip Mousse $9.99

Revlon x WW84 The Wonder Woman Face and Eye Palette $14

This collection popped up in my local CVS back in March or thereabouts (time has no meaning) and I happened to see it on my one trip there in the last few months. I passed. The packaging was uninspired, the colors as you note were almost all repromotes… it was just uninteresting. One of the few seasonal or promotional collections to land in a store in the last few years and it was such a dud.

At least the Wonder Woman logo is on the actual products this time, not just on the outer packaging like the cream eyeshadow you posted!

I am torn. The shadow and liner sticks look kind of nice, but do I need them? And the Wonder Woman logo isn’t that appealing to me. I wish the packaging was a little more unique and more representative of Wonder Woman. The design of these looks a bit lazy to me lol.

I kept walking by this the other day. The packaging is very pretty, but I’m not liking the price point. I’d wait for a sale on these on the lip mouse.

Walmart is cheaper with the collection prices but CVS, Walgreens, whoa major price jack!

As much as I Wonder Woman this packaging is lame. Especially the one where it’s just the outer carboard. Cry. More Wonder Woman, plz.

Hmmm maybe subconsciously my brain saw all of the re-promotes and said meh. I dunno, I saw this whole set up at CVS and it didn’t really do anything for me. Does anyone else see the irony in a “new” WW collection with “re-promoted” products and shades?! Maybe irony isn’t the right word. I think the word that I’m looking for is bullshit. Just saying. I still dig Revlon but this right here really frosts my cookies.

I dunno, Muse…at this point, I’m inclined to be in favor of anything bright and cheerful, which many of the items in this collection are! Especially the “Melting Shine” lipstick and the eyeshadow palette. Even this introvert is having a hard time lately; the Grateful Dead’s “Touch of Grey” has become an anthem for me (“We will get by/We will survive”). I’ll take cheerful wherever I can get it!

I would have expected more for a Wonder Woman collection but the lipstick Raise Your Fists seems interesting but it is all sold out. Does anyone know of a dupe especially since some of these are recycled?
